Behavioral and neuroimaging studies show that people trust and collaborate with others based on a quick assessment of the facial appearance. Based on the morphological characteristics of the face, i.e., features, shape, or color, it is possible to determine health, attractiveness, trust, and some personality traits. Sizing and shape optimization material use in 10 bar trusses

Truss optimization has the goal of achieving savings in costs and material while maintaining structural characteristics. In this research a 10 bar truss was structurally optimized in Rhino 6 using genetic algorithm optimization method. Results from previous research where sizing optimization was limited to using only three different cross-sections were compared to a sizing and shape optimization model which uses only those three cross-sections. Significant savings in mass have been found when using this approach. An analysis was conducted of the necessary bill of materials for these solutions. This research indicates practical effects which optimization can achieve in truss design.

Abstract The results of experimental and numerical investigations on the cyclic behavior of composite truss beam to reinforced concrete column connection of moment resisting frames are reported. The beams are constituted by a steel truss and end zone added rebar embedded within a concrete block cast in place, so that, after curing, the steel truss and the added rebar work together with the concrete matrix as reinforcement of the composite beam. The Relevance of Kneading and Extrusion Parameters in the Manufacture of Active Porous Aluminas from Pseudoboehmites

In order to study the effect-on crushing strength, attrition resistance, specific pore volume, and pore volume distribution of extrudates-of kneading and extrusion parameters in the manufacture of active porous aluminas, a commercial pseudoboehmite (Pural SB from Condea Chemie, Brunsbuttel, FRG) was employed. A minimum kneading torque was required to prepare an extrudable paste, predetermined by extrusion conditions. The torque had an upper limit with respect to certain extrudate properties.
