Vienas rindas daudzkanālu un vairāku rindu daudzkanālu modeļu matemātiskās analīzes salīdzinājums
2019

Masteroppgave i psykisk helsearbeid ME504 Universitetet i Agder 2014 Background: Suspected child abuse reports to Child Protective Services (CPS) made by pre-school teachers has been on the rise. Consequently, that raises the question about whether the teachers' knowledge or awareness of child abuse or the actual number of children who have been abused has increased. Pre-school teachers, as many other professionals who work with children on a daily basis, face many challenges in their work place. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to describe the pre-school teachers' experiences with child abuse, including how they identify children who have been abused and how they determine whether they…

Processing of word stress related acoustic information : A multi-feature MMN study
2017
In the present study, we investigated the processing of word stress related acoustic features in a word context. In a passive oddball multi-feature MMN experiment, we presented a disyllabic pseudo-word with two acoustically similar syllables as standard stimulus, and five contrasting deviants that differed from the standard in that they were either stressed on the first syllable or contained a vowel change. Stress was realized by an increase of f0, intensity, vowel duration or consonant duration. The vowel change was used to investigate if phonemic and prosodic changes elicit different MMN components. As a control condition, we presented non-speech counterparts of the speech stimuli. Result…
Maalaisliiton/Keskustan kunta ja kuntalaisuus liikkeessä? : käsitehistoriallinen näkökulma Maalaisliiton/Keskustan kuntapoliittisiin asiakirjoihin 19…
2014
Tutkimukseni tarkoituksena on selvittää, mikä on Maalaisliiton/Keskustan kunta- ja kuntalaisuuskäsitys. Tarkastelen työssäni kunnan ja kuntalaisuuden saamia merkityksiä käsitehistoriallisesta näkökulmasta. Tutkimukseni teoriatausta rakentuu Reinhart Koselleckin ajatuksiin käsitehistoriasta. Pro-gradu tutkielman aineisto koostuu Maalaisliiton/Keskustan kuntapoliittisista ohjelmista. Kunta- ja kuntalaisuus ovat saaneet ohjelmissa uusia sisältöjä ja merkityksiä, vaikka tietyt perusasiat säilyvät aina 1940- luvun lopulta 2008 vuoden ohjelmaan saakka. Aineistoni osoittaa, että käsitteiden ympärillä on havaittavissa poliittista kamppailua. Tämä ilmenee esimerkiksi kunta- valtiosuhteen kautta. Puo…
Influence of reading skill and word length on fixation-related brain activity in school-aged children during natural reading
2019
Word length is one of the main determinants of eye movements during reading and has been shown to influence slow readers more strongly than typical readers. The influence of word length on reading in individuals with different reading skill levels has been shown in separate eye-tracking and electroencephalography studies. However, the influence of reading difficulty on cortical correlates of word length effect during natural reading is unknown. To investigate how reading skill is related to brain activity during natural reading, we performed an exploratory analysis on our data set from a previous study, where slow reading (N = 27) and typically reading (N = 65) 12-to-13.5-year-old children …
Associations Between Student‐Athletes’ Self‐Esteem and Career Adaptability Across the High School Years
2021
The key challenges in sustainable elite sports concern young athletes´ holistic development. Consequently, preparation for dual careers has been recommended to enhance athletes’ well-being and equip them for life after sports. The aim of this study was to examine the developmental associations between self-esteem and career adaptability among adolescent athletes across the high school years and investigate the role of gender in these developmental trajectories. A total of 391 student-athletes were followed up four times from the beginning of high school (T1) to its end (T4) using the Dual Career Form of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale and the Self-Esteem Questionnaire. The results indicate…
School-Age Children's Actual Motor Competence and Perceived Physical Competence: A 3-Yr Follow-up.
2022
Purpose This study examined school-aged children’s actual motor competence (MC) and perceived physical competence (PC) over three years along with the covariate effects of gender and body mass index (BMI). Methods Participants were 1 121 (girls 573, boys 548) children (Mage 11.26 ± .32) from 35 randomly selected public schools across Finland. MC was assessed using three movement tests targeting locomotor, stability, and object control skills, and PC was assessed using the sport competence subscale of the Physical Self-Perception Profile via four-phase monitoring. Results MC and PC remained stable over time. Of the three variables, locomotor skills showed the strongest association with PC. L…
Use of prescription benzodiazepines and related drugs in family caregivers: a nation-wide register-based study
2022
Abstract Background objective indicators of sleep and mental health problems in family caregivers have rarely been reported. Objective to study the use of prescription benzodiazepines and related drugs (BZDRD) in Finnish family caregivers and matched controls. Design prospective follow-up in 2012–17. Setting nationwide register-linkage study. Subjects all individuals who received family caregiver’s allowance in Finland in 2012 (N = 42,256; mean age 67 years; 71% women) and controls matched for age, sex and municipality of residence (N = 83,618). Methods information on purchases of prescription BZDRD, including the number of defined daily doses (DDDs), between 2012 and 2017 was obtained from…
