Miksi tanssin? : Olennaisia-prosessissa mukana olleiden käsityksiä tanssin merkityksestä
2008
Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastelun kohteena ovat kolmen tanssijan kokemukset ja merkitykset, joita he tanssille antavat. Miksi he tanssivat? Miksi tanssi on merkityksellistä ja tärkeää heille ja kuinka he suhteuttavat itsensä osaksi yhteiskuntaa näiden merkitysten kautta. Lopuksi pohdin saamieni tulosten valossa miten yhteiskunta arvottaa ja arvostaa tanssin harrastajaa, ja kuinka yhteiskunta vastaa näihin tanssin harrastajan tanssille antamiin merkityksiin. Tutkimusaineistona käytän Olennaisia ‐prosessin tuottamaa materiaalia, havaintoja, videoita, keskusteluja ja tanssijoiden työstämiä kirjoituksia. Aluksi esittelen erilaisia tanssin määritelmiä, pureudun tanssin historiaan ja tutkimukseen, …

In the shadow of COVID-19: A randomized controlled online ACT trial promoting adolescent psychological flexibility and self-compassion.
2023
Background Although some adolescents managed to cope well with the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the well-being of many was adversely affected due to school closures, distance education, restrictions on gathering with friends, and limited access to mental health services. Many adolescents reported increased anxiety and depression as well as decreased psychological wellbeing due to the pandemic. Consequently, there is a need for psychological support that exceeds the strained resources available to schools to support young people during times of crisis and societal pressure. Objective The present study aimed to explore the effects of an online-delivered ACT intervention to …
Self-organised structures in the field of ICT : challenges for employees’ workplace learning
2021
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to identify the challenges of low hierarchy and self-organised structures for employees’ learning and competency development at work. In the past decade, interest in employees’ and organisations’ self-directedness has increased. Self-organised structures are perceived as better able to answer to the quickly changing requirements of clients and business environments. Within these structures, employees are expected to take on more responsibility and maintain more control over their workplace learning, which means they must be self-directed and autonomous. An important question for this approach is how can workplace learning and employee competence developme…
Meaningfulness in the work of language professionals
2022
This qualitative study explores the changes that a specific group of knowledge workers – language professionals in Finland – have undergone in their work and how they perceive the meaningfulness of their work as a result. The data presented in this article has been collected through group interviews and is part of a larger data set. To make sense of our data, we use thematic analysis and the framework of meaningful work presented by Rosso et al. For some of our research participants, the factors of meaningful work are present. For others, changes in work, such as platform work and outsourcing, have reduced autonomy and development possibilities. We conclude by discussing the implications of…
From Fredholm and Wronskian representations to rational solutions to the KPI equation depending on 2N − 2 parameters
2017
International audience; We have already constructed solutions to the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation (KPI) in terms of Fredholm determinants and wronskians of order 2N. These solutions have been called solutions of order N and they depend on 2N −1 parameters. We construct here N-order rational solutions. We prove that they can be written as a quotient of 2 polynomials of degree 2N(N +1) in x, y and t depending on 2N−2 parameters. We explicitly construct the expressions of the rational solutions of order 4 depending on 6 real parameters and we study the patterns of their modulus in the plane (x, y) and their evolution according to time and parameters a1, a2, a3, b1, b2, b3.
A FAMILY OF THE SPIRAL SOLUTIONS OF THE NONLINEAR KLEIN‐GORDON EQUATION
1998
A family of the functions, intended for a construction the exact travelling wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations, is given. Exact solutions of the Klein‐Gordon equation with a special potential are obtained. The behavior of complex and hypercomplex solutions of the second order is presented. Shame, Love, and Morality
2022
AbstractThis article offers a new account of the moral substance of shame. Through careful reflection on the motives and intentional structure of shame, I defend the claim that shame is an egocentric and morally blind emotion. I argue that shame is rooted in our desire for social affirmation and constituted by our ability to sense how we appear to others. What makes shame egocentric is that in shame we are essentially concerned about our own social worth and pained by the perception of our self as socially worthless. In itself, shame entails no morally pertinent concern about others or understanding of what is morally significant. I contrast shame with the possibility of relating to others—…
