Sales Channels and Media Digitalization Impact on People Voluntary Savings for Retirement

2019

Due to the implementation of new technologies and orientation on digital solutions the communication and sales channels have changed dramatically. Information and client service on-line availability presents strong advantages for business, state agencies as well as customers. However, lack of personal interaction during the communication and sales process can make it difficult for people to understand and even frustrate their desire for a product or service. The purpose of the research is to analyse the digitalization impact on voluntary savings for retirement in Latvia and make comparisons with other countries. The voluntary pension schemes are the part of pension system and its third pill…

Glyphosate residues alter the microbiota of a perennial weed with a minimal indirect impact on plant performance

2021

Abstract Purpose In cold climates, glyphosate residues may linger in soils, with effects on plant–microbe interactions and, consequently, plant performance. Here, we explore the influence of glyphosate residues on the endophytic microbiota (bacteria and fungi) and performance of the perennial nitrogen-fixing weed Lupinus polyphyllus. Methods In a common garden, we grew plants from six populations of L. polyphyllus in glyphosate-treated or untreated control soils, with or without additional phosphorus. We sampled plant microbiota (leaves, roots, nodules) and assessed plant performance based on six traits: height, retrogression probability (i.e. shrinkage), biomass, root:shoot ratio, nodule n…

An outcome-based dynamic performance management approach to collaborative governance in crime control: insights from Malaysia

2019

The paper analyzes Malaysia’s experience in crime control. It offers insights on how a whole-of-government perspective, underpinned by a dynamic outcome-based performance management system, or DPM, supports governments in bringing about progress in crime reduction. Although not exhaustive of all factors contributing to crime control, the paper argues that DPM can make collaboration in designing and implementing policies for crime control more effective, by enabling policy-makers frame causal links between strategic resources, performance drivers and outcomes. The feedback-loops underlying the crime-control system’s behavior should be governed in a way that enables policy-makers to build up …

The imprints of the Great Attractor and the Virgo cluster on the microwave background

1993

A fully non-linear model based on the Tolman-Bondi solution of the Einstein equations is used to describe the Great Attractor and the Virgo cluster. The background is a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe, and the inhomogeneity develops from physically motivated initial profiles of the energy density and the peculiar velocity. Accurate numerical integrations of the field equations of the null geodesics are carried out, and thus the angular temperature distribution of the microwave background produced by the chosen overdensities is found. The observer is located in the Local Group. The quadrupole Q produced by each overdensity is computed and divided into two parts: the relativistic Doppler …

A dynamical systems study of the inhomogeneous Lambda-CDM model

2010

We consider spherically symmetric inhomogeneous dust models with a positive cosmological constant, $\Lambda$, given by the Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi metric. These configurations provide a simple but useful generalization of the Lambda-CDM model describing cold dark matter (CDM) and a Lambda term, which seems to fit current cosmological observations. The dynamics of these models can be fully described by scalar evolution equations that can be given in the form of a proper dynamical system associated with a 4-dimensional phase space whose critical points and invariant subspaces are examined and classified. The phase space evolution of various configurations is studied in detail by means of two 2-…

Adiabatic regularization with a Yukawa interaction

2017

We extend the adiabatic regularization method for an expanding universe to include the Yukawa interaction between quantized Dirac fermions and a homogeneous background scalar field. We give explicit expressions for the renormalized expectation values of the stress-energy tensor $\langle T_{\mu\nu} \rangle$ and the bilinear $\langle \bar\psi\psi\rangle$ in a spatially flat FLRW spacetime. These are basic ingredients in the semiclassical field equations of fermionic matter in curved spacetime interacting with a background scalar field. The ultraviolet subtracting terms of the adiabatic regularization can be naturally interpreted as coming from appropriate counterterms of the background fields…

Radiation forces and the formation of planetary systems

1990

We briefly support on some new results about the influence of the rotation and finite size of a stellar radiation source on dust particle orbits, emphasizing the possibility of stable orbits, in the equatorial plane, for dust sizes near the radiation pressure limit.

Probing the creatable character of some significant universe models

2008

An unambiguous physical definition of creatable universes was recently proposed. According to it, flat and closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) backgrounds can be created as quantum vacuum fluctuations, whereas open backgrounds are not creatable. Here, physically motivated perturbations of closed and flat backgrounds are analyzed. Various creatable perturbed FRW universes are thus found. Some of them involve scalar and tensor perturbations with appropriate spectra, whereas other ones are Bianchi models.
