The asymmetric 1,4-diazadiene ligands R ∗ N CHCH NR ∗ [R ∗  = ( S )-CH(CH 3 )Ph], R 2 ∗ dad , and 2,2′-bis(4-ethyloxazoline), as-ox, have been used to generate half-sandwich Mo III derivatives by addition to Cp 2 Mo 2 Cl 4 . Ligand R 2 ∗ dad affords a mononuclear, paramagnetic 17-electron product, CpMoCl 2 ( R 2 ∗ dad ) , whereas as-ox leads to the isolation of a dinuclear compound where only one molecule of ligand has been added per two Mo atoms, Cp 2 Mo 2 Cl 4 (as-ox). First Record Of Aplysia Dactylomela Rang, 1828 (Heterobranchia, Aplysiidae) from Pianosa Island (northern Tyrrhenian Sea)

The non-indigenous spotted sea hare Aplysia dactylomela Rang, 1828, entered the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic, is recorded for the first time from shallow coastal waters of Pianosa Island in 2015. This record can be considered the first occurrence in the northern Tyrrhenian Sea. One specimen of A. dactylomela was photographed while was feeding on a rock bottom mainly covered with red algae.

Wormlike Polystyrene Brushes in Thin Films

Mono- and multilayer films were prepared on mica by solution casting of a high molecular weight polymacromonomer, i.e., a polymethacrylate of about 1000 repeating units each of which was substituted by a polystyrene chain with a molecular weight of about 5000 Da. The films were studied by tapping scanning force microscopy. The material showed a remarkable preference for forming well-defined monolayers of a thickness of 6.5 ± 0.2 nm consistent with the hard core diameter of the collapsed cylindrical brush molecules. BACKGROUND: Partition coefficients give an indication of the retention of aroma compounds by the food matrix. Data in the literature are obtained by various methods, under various conditions and expressed in various units, and it is thus difficult to compare the results. The aim of the present study was first to obtain gas/water and gas/matrix partition coefficients of selected aroma compounds, at different temperatures, in order to calculate thermodynamic parameters and second to compare the retention of these aroma compounds in different food matrices. Abstract Polymers obtained from tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and triethoxymethylsilane (MTEOS) have been functionalized with different metal and metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs), and used as coatings of extractive capillaries for the extraction of polar compounds by in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) coupled on-line to nano-liquid chromatography (nano-LC). Effect of storage on quality parameters and phenolic content of Italian extra-virgin olive oils

The quality of extra virgin olive oils is affected mainly by hydrolytic and oxidative reactions. The present paper investigated the changes of major and minor components and oxidation indices of three monovarietal extra virgin olive oils after 18 months of storage at room temperature and in dark glass bottles conditions. After storage, the basic quality parameters such as free acidity, peroxide values, extinction coefficients, fatty acids composition, chlorophyll and carotenoid content, did not exceed the upper limits set by European Community Regulations for extra-virgin olive oils. Periglomerular cells (PG) are interneurons of the olfactory bulb (OB) that modulate the first synaptic relay of the olfactory information from the olfactory nerve to the dendrites of the bulbar principal cells. Previous investigations have pointed to the heterogeneity of these interneurons and have demonstrated the presence of two different types of PG. In the rat OB, type 1 PG receive synaptic contacts from the olfactory axons and are γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic, whereas type 2 PG do not receive synaptic contacts from the olfactory axons and are GABA immunonegative. Distribution of the A3 subunit of the cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels in the main olfactory bulb of the rat.

Previous data suggest that cyclic GMP (cGMP) signaling can play key roles in the circuitry of the olfactory bulb (OB). Therefore, the expression of cGMP-selective subunits of the cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels (CNGs) can be expected in this brain region. In the present study, we demonstrate a widespread expression of the cGMP-selective A3 subunit of the cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels (CNGA3) in the rat OB. CNGA3 appears in principal cells, including mitral cells and internal, medium and external tufted cells. Perceptual blending in odor mixtures depends on the nature of odorants and human olfactory expertise.

In contrast, we are also able to discriminate odors from complex mixtures (e.g., off-odors). Synaptic connectivity of serotonergic axons in the olfactory glomeruli of the rat olfactory bulb.

Although the major mode of transmission for serotonin in the brain is volume transmission, previous anatomical studies have demonstrated that serotonergic axons do form synaptic contacts. The olfactory glomeruli of the olfactory bulb of mammals receive a strong serotonergic innervation from the dorsal and medial raphe nuclei. In the present report, we investigate the synaptic connectivity of these serotonergic axons in the glomerular neuropil of the rat olfactory bulb. Our study shows that serotonergic axons form asymmetrical synaptic contacts on dendrites within the glomerular neuropil.
