Ibrutinib Abrogates TREM-1 Mediated Neutrophil Activation

2016

Abstract Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1 (TREM-1) is an activating receptor on neutrophils (PMN) and important in the innate host defence against microbial pathogens. Here we examined the influence of the Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor ibrutinib on TREM-1 dependent activation of human PMNs. Firstly, ibrutinib specifically inhibited TREM-1 mediated PMN activation of the oxidative burst and CD62L shedding, whereas TLR mediated activation remained unaffected. Correspondingly, ibrutinib suppressed ERK phosphorylation after TREM-1, but not after TLR ligation. To clarify whether this TREM-1 specific effect of ibrutinib was also relevant in vivo, we treated mice with ibrut…

Pityriasis lichenoides chronica associated with herpes simplex virus type 2.

2012

Introduction. Pityriasis lichenoides is a rare, acquired spectrum of skin conditions of an unknown etiology.Case Report. A 28-year-old man presented with recurrent outbreaks of herpes simplex virus associated with the onset of red-to-brown maculopapules located predominantly in trunk in each recurrence. Positive serologies to herpes simplex virus type 2 were detected. Histopathological examination of one of the lesions was consistent with a diagnosis of pityriasis lichenoides chronica.Discussion. Pityriasis lichenoides is a rare cutaneous entity of an unknown cause which includes different clinical presentations. A number of infectious agents have been implicated based on the clustering of …

Mechanisms of Resistance to the FLT3-Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor PKC412 in Patients with AML.

2004

Abstract The FLT3 receptor tyrosine kinase is expressed in 70-90% of cases of AML. Up to 35% of patients with AML show mutations in the JM-region or kinase domain of FLT3. These lead to autophosphorylation promoting ligand-independent cell proliferation and inhibition of apoptosis. Treatment with FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) is a promising tool in therapy of AML. Preliminary results investigating the FLT3-TKI PKC412 in patients with relapsed/refractory AML revealed that 11/15 patients (73%) with mutated FLT3 and 16/46 patients (35%) with WT FLT3 showed a >50% blast response in peripheral blood (Estey E et al. Blood.2003; 102:919a). Despite its remarkable efficacy in reducing…

SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF DENDROPOMA CRISTATUM (MOLLUSCA, GASTROPODA) ADULT BIOMASS ON A VERMETID REEF

2023

A spatial characterization of Dendropoma cristatum biomass was carried out on a Vermetid reef in north-western Sicily. Biomass distribution of adult specimens is not homogenous in the different areas of the reef, with an increasing trend from the inner edge to the outer edge, while the central pool supports intermediate values of vermetid biomass. Considering the entire reef area, the cuvette has the highest Dendropoma biomasses of the bioconstruction, even if the highest surface-biomass ratio is found in the outer edege.

Styrene polymerization using nickel(II) complexes as catalysts

2005

International audience; Styrene polymerization is investigated with neutral and cationic Ni(II) complexes, i.e. Ni(bipy)Me-2, 1, Ni(bipy)Br-2, 2, Ni(phen)Br-2, 3, or Ni(Me(2)phen)Br-2, 4, Ni(acac)(2), 5, (bipy = 2,2 '-bipyridine, phen = phenanthroline, Me,phen = 2,9-dimethyl-1, 10-phenanthroline, acac acetylacetonate), activated by [NHMe2Ph][B(C6F5)(4)] or B(C6F5)(3) as cocatalysts, in the presence of AlMe3. The influence on the polystyrene features and the reaction kinetics of the nickel complex and boron activator, the Al/Ni or B/Ni molar ratios as well as the monomer concentration are studied. Catalytic systems derived from 2, 3 or 5 and [NHMe2Ph][B(C6F5)(4)] at a Ni:B:Al ratio of 1: 1:5…

1981

Refractive indices and refractive index increments of the system polystyrene/trans-decalin were measured under pressures up to 500 bar and at temperatures between 20 and 60°C. The measurements were performed with a new, recently designed interferometer. The results demonstrate a sufficient agreement of the refractive index values measured at different temperatures and pressures with the equations of Eykman and Gladstone-Dale whereas the Lorenz-Lorentz equation indicates larger deviations. The experimental data of the refractive index increment follow none of the refractive index mixture rules. It is therefore recommended to determine refractive index increments at different pressures experi…

Enzym-histochemische Studien am cervicalen Drsenfeld des Uterus

1972

Influence of Innovative Processing on γ-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) Contents in Plant Food Materials

2017

Over the last several decades, γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) has attracted much attention due to its diverse physiological implications in plants, animals, and microorganisms. GABA naturally occurs in plant materials and its concentrations may vary considerably, from traces up to μmol/g (dry basis) depending on plant matrix, germination stage, and processing conditions, among other factors. However, due to its important biological activities, considerable interest has been shown by both food and pharmaceutical industries to improve its concentration in plants. Natural and conventional treatments such as mechanical and cold stimulation, anoxia, germination, enzyme treatment, adding exogenous gl…

Targeted Therapy in Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors

2015

Advances in the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) pathogenesis have resulted in the development of a treatment approach which has become a model of targeted therapy in oncology. The introduction of imatinib mesylate [inhibiting KIT/PDGFRA (platelet-derived growth factor receptor-α) and their downstream signaling cascade] has dramatically improved the therapy of advanced (inoperable and/or metastatic) GIST. Imatinib has now become the standard of care in the treatment of patients with advanced GIST and its efficacy has been proven also in adjuvant setting after resection of primary high-risk tumors. However, a majority of patients eventually…
