Nitrogen-13 (t(1/2) 9.97 m), a radioactive isotope of nitrogen, offers unique opportunities to explore plant nitrogen utilization over short time periods. Here we describe a method for administering (13)N as gaseous (13)NH(3) to intact leaves of Nicotiana tabacum L. (cv Samsun), and measuring the labelled amino acids using radio high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) on tissue extract. Lipid peroxidation was investigated in relation with the hypersensitive reaction in cryptogein-elicited tobacco leaves. A massive production of free polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) hydroperoxides dependent on a 9-lipoxygenase (LOX) activity was characterized during the development of leaf necrosis. The process occurred after a lag phase of 12 h, was accompanied by the concomitant increase of 9-LOX activity, and preceded by a transient accumulation of LOX transcripts. Según la Encuesta sobre el uso de Drogas en Estudiantes de Enseñanzas Secundarias en España (ESTUDES 2018-19), el tabaco, es la segunda droga de mayor prevalencia entre los estudiantes de 14 a 18 años, por detrás del alcohol. El 41.3% de los encuestados ha fumado tabaco alguna vez en la vida, y el 26.7% confirma un consumo en los 30 días previos a la realización de la encuesta, el primer consumo de tabaco se produce a los 14.1 años. La cryptogéine est un éliciteur protéique des réactions de défense chez le tabac sécrété par l’oomycète Phytophthora cryptogea. Son interaction avec un récepteur encore non identifié de la membrane plasmique déclenche une cascade d’événements de signalisation qui conduisent à une reprogrammation génique, à la diffusion d’un signal conférant une résistance systémique et, ultimement, à la mort des cellules directement exposées à cet éliciteur.
