Structure effects induced by high mechanical compaction of STAM-17-OEt MOF powders

2021

Financial support by PJ-RIC-FFABR_2017 and the EPSRC grant EPSRC industrial CASE award (grant EP/N50936X/1) are acknowledged. The research programme Nanoporous materials (P1-0021) financially supported by Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) is acknowledged as well. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising materials for many potential applications, spacing from gas storage to catalysis. However, the powder form of which they are generally made is not suitable, mainly because of the low packing density. Powder compaction is therefore necessary, but also challenging because of their typical mechanical fragility. Indeed, generally, they undergo irreversibly damages upon densification processe…

Optimized tableting for extremely oxygen-sensitive probiotics using direct compression

2018

International audience; Faecalibacterium prausnitzii was previously recognized for its intestinal anti-inflammatory activities and it has been shown less abundant in patients with chronic intestinal diseases. However, the main problems encountered in the use of this interesting anaerobic microorganism are firstly its high sensitivity to the oxygen and secondly, its ability to reach the large intestine alive as targeted site. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of direct compression on the viability of this probiotic strain after different compression pressure and storage using three different excipients (MCC, HPMC and HPMCP). The effect of compression process on cell viabili…

The treatment of enteric bacterial infections using oral bacteriophage therapy can be challenging since the harsh acidic stomach environment renders phages inactive during transit through the gastrointestinal tract. Solid oral dosage forms allowing site-specific gastrointestinal delivery of high doses of phages, e.g., using a pH or enzymatic trigger, would be a game changer for the nascent industry trying to demonstrate the efficacy of phages, including engineered phages for gut microbiome modulation in expensive clinical trials. Spray-drying is a scalable, low-cost process for producing pharmaceutical agents in dry powder form. Encapsulation of a model Salmonella-specific phage (Myoviridae…

Role of continuous moisture profile monitoring by inline NIR spectroscopy during fluid bed granulation of an Enalapril formulation

2010

Granulation and tableting are closely related process steps in the supply chain of pharmaceutical products. Even today, these steps are still optimized independently by trial and error. On the framework of a process analytical technology approach, these processes were evaluated in an integrated approach. Enalapril maleate is a low-dose drug substance with poor granulating and tableting behavior. In order to verify how granulation influences tableting properties, different granulation experiments were performed.Granulation experiments with fast spraying rate and fast drying as well as fast spraying rate and slow drying, and also combinations of both were run. The obtained granules were then …

Influence of the parameters molecular structure and granularity on the compactibility of a powder

1995

Drug Dev. Ind. Pharm. ISI Document Delivery No.: RP128 Times Cited: 3 Cited Reference Count: 14 Andres, c ndiaye, a thomas, c tromelin, a chaillot, b pourcelot, y; International audience; The aim of this study was to determine whether it is possible to obtain better characterization of materials in order to find out if these one are suitable in Quality Assurance for direct tableting. We tried to show that a methodological approach combining chemical, physical and technological aspects could control the direct compression process. We chose orthoboric acid as a study model for the direct compression. From a chemical point of view, our findings show only one crystalline molecular structure (RX…
