In vitro power profiles of multifocal simultaneous vision contact lenses.

2013

Abstract Purpose To evaluate the power profile of multifocal contact lenses (CLs) using a new technology based on quantitative deflectometry. Methods The Nimo TR1504 was used to analyze the power distribution of multifocal CLs. The CLs under study were: Air Optix Aqua Multifocal Low, Medium and High Addition and Focus Progressives. Three lenses of each model were considered. Results All multifocal CLs showed a power profile characterized by a change toward more positive power values when aperture sizes become smaller. The near refractive addition of the lenses under study was +2.61 D, +1.44 D, +1.30 D and +0.30 D for the Focus Progressives, the Air Optix Aqua Multifocal High, Medium Add and…

Detector's quantum backaction effects on a mesoscopic conductor and fluctuation-dissipation relation

2016

When measuring quantum mechanical properties of charge transport in mesoscopic conductors, backaction effects occur. We consider a measurement setup with an elementary quantum circuit, composed of an inductance and a capacitor, as detector of the current flowing in a nearby quantum point contact. A quantum Langevin equation for the detector variable including backaction effects is derived. Differences with the quantum Langevin equation obtained in linear response are pointed out. In this last case, a relation between fluctuations and dissipation is obtained, provided that an effective temperature of the quantum point contact is defined.

Neutron-rich isotopesTi54−57

1996

The neutron-rich isotopes $^{54\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}57}\mathrm{Ti}$ and $^{58\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}60}\mathrm{Cr}$ are produced by fragmentation of a 64.5 MeV/nucleon $^{65}\mathrm{Cu}^{26+}$ beam in a 90 mg/${\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$ $^{9}\mathrm{Be}$ target. Following particle identification by energy loss and time of flight, the radioactive decay was observed by \ensuremath{\beta} singles and \ensuremath{\beta}\ensuremath{\gamma}-coincidence measurements. The results obtained for $^{58\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}60}\mathrm{Cr}$ are compared to previous results, whereas the decay of the $^{54\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}57}\mathrm{Ti}$ isotopes is studied here. \ensuremath{\gamma}-ray intensities and en…

Decay properties of neutron deficient Kr isotopes

1974

The decay properties of the neutron deficient isotopes73–77Kr and73–76Br have been studied at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. The total decay energiesQ, as determined fromβ + singles orβ + -γ coincidence measurements, are compared with mass formulae.

Low-lying levels of201Hg from the decay of201Au

1972

The decay of 26.4-min201Au has been investigated using chemically separated sources and Ge(Li), Si(Li), plastic and Nal(Tl) detectors in different singles and coincidence arrangements. The β-disintegration energy was measured to be 1.27 ± 0.10 MeV. Thirteen γ-rays were observed to belong to this decay and the new levels at 543, 549.2, 552.8, 559.1, 605.7, 645.4, 732 and 1188 keV were established in201Hg, in addition to the three previously known excited states below 200 keV.

Neutron Fermi liquids under the presence of a strong magnetic field with effective nuclear forces

2009

Landau's Fermi liquid parameters are calculated for non-superfluid pure neutron matter in the presence of a strong magnetic field at zero temperature. The particle-hole interactions in the system, where a net magnetization may be present, are characterized by these parameters in the framework of a multipolar formalism. We use either zero- or finite-range effective nuclear forces to describe the nuclear interaction. Using the obtained Fermi liquid parameters, the contribution of a strong magnetic field on some bulk magnitudes such as isothermal compressibility and spin susceptibility is also investigated.

Semicontact three-body interaction for nuclear density functional theory

2015

International audience; To solve difficulties related to the use of nuclear density functional theory applied in its beyond-mean-field version, we introduce a semicontact three-body effective interaction. We show that this interaction is a good candidate to replace the widely used density-dependent effective interaction. The resulting new functionals are able to describe symmetric, neutron, polarized, and neutron polarized nuclear matter as well as the effective mass properties simultaneously.

Thermal neutron capture cross sections of tellurium isotopes

2003

New values for thermal neutron capture cross sections of the tellurium isotopes 122Te, 124Te, 125Te, 126Te, 128Te, and 130Te are reported. These values are based on a combination of newly determined partial g-ray cross sections obtained from experiments on targets contained natural Te and gamma intensities per capture of individual Te isotopes. Isomeric ratios for the thermal neutron capture on the even tellurium isotopes are also given.

Synchronized rotation in swarms of magnetotactic bacteria.

2017

Self-organizing behavior has been widely reported in both natural and artificial systems, typically distinguishing between temporal organization (synchronization) and spatial organization (swarming). Swarming has been experimentally observed in systems of magnetotactic bacteria under the action of external magnetic fields. Here we present a model of ensembles of magnetotactic bacteria in which hydrodynamic interactions lead to temporal synchronization in addition to the swarming. After a period of stabilization during which the bacteria form a quasiregular hexagonal lattice structure, the entire swarm begins to rotate in a direction opposite to the direction of the rotation of the magnetic …

Four colour photometry of late-type binary systems

1997

This paper presents new complete uvby light curves of the late-type detached eclipsing binary BH Vir (G0V + G5V, P =0 : 81687099). This binary system has been observed during four cam- paigns at the Calar Alto Observatory (Almeria, Spain) and at the European Southern Observatory (La Silla, Chile). This observations are part of a 6 yearuvby and H monitoring program of low mass eclipsing binaries which main objective is to provide accurate absolute astrophys- ical parameters for late-type main sequence stars. 1585 points spreaded over the binary period and covering both eclipses are given. The internal accuracy of the standard photometry measured as the mean RMS of the dierences between stand…
