Copyright by the Ecological Society of America The ecological assessment of freshwaters is currently primarily based on biological communities and the reference condition approach (RCA). In the RCA, the communities in streams and lakes disturbed by humans are compared with communities in reference conditions with no or minimal anthropogenic influence. The currently favored rationale is using selected community metrics for which the expected values (E) for each site are typically estimated from environmental variables using a predictive model based on the reference data. The present special issue includes single and multiple case studies which report on the phenomenon of ‘paradoxical’ outcomes in psychotherapy, operationalized as discordant outcome assessments within the same case. In an attempt to find ground for my published response, I endeavored to juxtaposition the cases from the different studies, and by doing that gain an overview of the contributions and arguments. As a result of that exercise, I suggest three different types of paradoxical outcome with different pathways and implications. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tutkia ja tuottaa tietoa kehitysvammaisten kokemuksista tutkimuskysymyksen ”miten kehitysvammaiset kokevat oman itsemääräämisoikeutensa ja miten se käytännössä ilmenee?” avulla. Millaisen merkityksen kehitysvammainen henkilö antaa omalle itsemääräämisoikeudelleen? Tutkimus on kvalitatiivinen ja lähestymistapana ja metodologisena valintana on eksistentiaalinen fenomenologia, joka pohjautuu holistiseen ihmiskäsitykseen. This study examined what kinds of ethical dilemmas managers working in reception centers in Finland have encountered as well as what kinds of strategies they applied in ethically challenging situations, and finally, what ethical dimensions the strategies included. This specific topic has not been investigated before, thus, this study aimed to theoretically and empirically examine it. Theoretical framework bases on Geva’s (2006) typology of ethical dilemmas, Jones’ (1991) issue- contingent model of moral intensity, and Rahim & Bonoma’s (1979) model of the styles of handling interpersonal conflict. The effectiveness of leadership development in the military context from a gender viewpoint

In this case study, leadership development is investigated from the viewpoint of women in a military context. In particular, the effectiveness of a leadership development program in a specific context, namely the Finnish Defence Forces, is explored. The program being studied is unique because it is concerned with developing volunteers, not professional soldiers. A longitudinal, interview-based study of the topic was conducted with women who had participated in the program. The data consists of 45 open-ended interviews with 15 women. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on lisätä tietoa vastuullisen johtamisen kehittämisestä ja sen vaikuttavuudesta. Selvityksen kohteena oli johtaja- ja yrittäjänaisille sekä asiantuntijoina toimiville naisille toteutettu vastuullisen johtamisen täydennyskoulutus, visionFactor-koulutusohjelma.
