Andreklassingers arbeid med problemløsningsoppgaver : Et semiotisk perspektiv
2019
Masteroppgave matematikkdidaktikk MA502 – Universitetet i Agder 2019 This master thesis presentsaqualitative case study whichexplore year 2 students work with problem solving tasks, in a semiotic perspective. In the study, three small groups were observed while working with problem solving tasks. The aim of the observations where to getaninsight into which semiotic resources the students used while working onthe problem solving tasks. Video recordings from the observations make up the empirical data material of this study. This study is placed in the socio-cultural learning perspective. The aim of this study is to explore which semiotic resources the students use while working onproblem sol…
EntityBot: Supporting Everyday Digital Tasks with Entity Recommendations
2021
Everyday digital tasks can highly benefit from systems that recommend the right information to use at the right time. However, existing solutions typically support only specific applications and tasks. In this demo, we showcase EntityBot, a system that captures context across application boundaries and recommends information entities related to the current task. The user’s digital activity is continuously monitored by capturing all content on the computer screen using optical character recognition. This includes all applications and services being used and specific to individuals’ computer usages such as instant messaging, emailing, web browsing, and word processing. A linear model is then …
Activation of the vocational and personal development (ADVP): an innovative educational orientation methodology.
2015
Progress in orientation educational practices in Italy has led to the emergence of several methods designed to help the development of personal and career aims. The several evaluations, which have been carried out, show that changes are first cognitive and specifically involve professional representations: experimental subjects used more descriptors and different descriptors to represent an occupation which interests them. These changes are also cognitive with participants stating that they have been involved in experiences and in activities, have sought information, etc. These initial results once again raise the question of instruments needing to be developed for such evaluation, that of …
Associations between identity processes and success in developmental tasks during the transition from emerging to young adulthood
2019
Little is yet known of how personal identity processes of exploration and commitment develop beyond adolescence and how they interact with developmental tasks of young adulthood. Employing the DIDS (The Dimensions of Identity Development Scale; commitment making, identification with commitment, exploration in breadth, exploration in depth and ruminative exploration) in a longitudinal sample of Finnish young adults (measurement at age 24 and 29; N = 854, 63% women), the results of this study suggested 1) that identity commitment and exploration levels, in general, decrease over time, 2) that success in developmental tasks but not sex moderate this development, and 3) that among developmental…
Dynamics between student vs. teacher perceptions of mathematics task-orientation and mathematics performance among adolescents
2017
This study examined the dynamics between perceptions of mathematics task-orientation and mathematics performance among Finnish adolescents over a period of two last years of secondary school. Task-orientation in math was assessed at the beginning of grade 8 and again at the end of grade 9 using both student and teacher-reports. At the same time points, students' mathematics performance was evaluated via standardized test. The cross-lagged associations of task-orientation and mathematics performance were examined taking account the possible impacts of general cognitive ability, technical reading skills, reading comprehension and gender. The results showed that a high level of mathematics per…
The future of assessment in Higher Education
2020
The pending challenge of assessment in higher education, although also at other educational levels, continues to be its effective link with student learning. Students' strategic learning could and should be achieved by the assessment. This paper arises from the attempt to answer the question about what would be the future of assessment in higher education and it is presented under the form of a collaborative text that was elaborated by all the authors who sign it. This contribution offers a joint reflection by various authors from different contexts and regions on three essential aspects. First, the need for reflection and a change in assessment based on current trends that are demonstratin…
Komunikatīvo uzdevumu izmantošana modālo darbības vārdu mācīšanā augstskolā
2016
Angļu valodas modālie darbības vārdi studentiem rada ievērojamas grūtības to gramatiskās un funkcionālās dažādības dēļ. Pētnieki un metodiķi uzsver uz konteksta bāzes veidotu komunikatīvo uzdevumu pielietojuma nozīmīgumu efektīvākai gramatisko formu, īpaši modālo darbības vārdu, apguvei un nostiprināšanai. Maģistra darba mērķis bija izpētīt komunikatīvo uzdevumu ietekmi modālo darbības vārdu apguvē un to pielietojumā reālās situācijās.
Scheduling independent stochastic tasks under deadline and budget constraints
2018
This article discusses scheduling strategies for the problem of maximizing the expected number of tasks that can be executed on a cloud platform within a given budget and under a deadline constraint. The execution times of tasks follow independent and identically distributed probability laws. The main questions are how many processors to enroll and whether and when to interrupt tasks that have been executing for some time. We provide complexity results and an asymptotically optimal strategy for the problem instance with discrete probability distributions and without deadline. We extend the latter strategy for the general case with continuous distributions and a deadline and we design an ef…
Scheduling stretched coupled-tasks with compatibilities constraints : model, complexity and approximation results for some class of graphs
2014
We tackle the makespan minimization coupled-tasks problem in presence of compatibility constraints. In particular, we focus on stretched coupled-tasks, {\it i.e.}coupled-tasks having the same sub-tasks execution time and idle time duration. We study severals problems in frame works of classic complexity and approximation for which the compatibility graph $G_c$ is bipartite (star, chain, $\ldots$) In such context, we design some efficient polynomial-time approximation algorithms according to difference parameters of the scheduling problem. When $G_c$ is a $k$-stage bipartite graph, we propose, among other, a $\frac{7}{6}$-approximation algorithm when $k=1$, and a $\frac{13}{9}$-approximation…
Theoretical Aspects of Scheduling Coupled-Tasks in the Presence of Compatibility Graph
2012
International audience; This paper presents a generalization of the coupled-task sche-duling problem introduced by Shapiro \cite{Shapiro}, where considered tasks are subject to incompatibility constraints depicted by an undirected graph. The motivation of this problem comes from data acquisition and processing in a mono-processor torpedo used for underwater exploration. As we add the compatibility graph, we focus on complexity of the problem, and more precisely on the boundary between $\mathcal{P}$ and $\mathcal{NP}$-completeness when some other input parameters are restricted (e.g. the ratio between the durations of the two sub-tasks composing a task): we adapt the global visualization of …
