Il contributo prende in rassegna alcune delle principali opere prodotte dal maggiore stuccatore del Settecento siciliano, Giacomo Serpotta. Il percorso cronologico prende le mosse dalle esperienze della tradizione con gli apparati cinqucenteschi dei Ferraro e del padre Gaspare, proseguendo con le pietre miliari in cui la tecnica di Serpotta e la sua visione compositiva si evolvono. Sono affrontati anche alcuni aspetti tecnici costitutivi e costruttivi degli apparati.

La situación actual de violencia en Patani, Tailandia es tanto una consecuencia de la conflagración histórica como un resultado del fracaso de la Administración pública. Se trata a la vez de un terrorismo separatista y de un conflicto armado. Sin embargo, la solución del problema por la vía política y pacífica parece ser más eficaz que por la represión e imposición estricta de las leyes penales excepcionales. La justicia restaurativa es una herramienta jurídica que puede aplicarse en los casos de terrorismo en Patani para superar el conflicto y lograr la reconciliación social. NMR crystallography of 2-Acylamino-6-[1H]pyridones: solid state NMR, GIPAW computational, and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies

Abstract 2-Acylamino-6-[1H]-pyridones [acyl = RCO, where R = methyl (1), ethyl (2), iso-propyl (3), tert-butyl (4), and 1-adamantyl (5)] have been synthesized and characterized by NMR spectroscopy. From three congeners, 2, 3 and 5, also single crystal X-ray structures have been solved. For these derivatives GIPAW calculations acts as a “bridge” between solid-state NMR data and calculated chemical shifts based on X-ray determined geometry. In crystals all three compounds exist as pyridone tautomers possessing similar six-membered ring structure stabilized by intramolecular C O⋯HN hydrogen bond. Abstract Indol-2-yl-imidazolium salts were deprotonated at N1 of the indole ring to give ylides. Their tautomeric N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) were trapped by sulfur to give imidazole-2-thiones. Treatment of the ylides with triethylborane resulted in the formation of zwitterionic borane adducts. An analogous sequence of reactions was performed with 8-azaindol-2-yl-imidazolium salts, which served as precursor to prepare first representatives of a new heterocyclic ring system on reaction of their NHC-tautomers with triethylborane. Hyperspectral imaging and distance data have previously been used in aerial, forestry, agricultural, and medical imaging applications. Extracting meaningful information from a combination of different imaging modalities is difficult, as the image sensor fusion requires knowing the optical properties of the sensors, selecting the right optics and finding the sensors’ mutual reference frame through calibration. The mucosal surfaces of animals are habitat for microbes, including viruses. Bacteriophages—viruses that infect bacteria—were shown to be able to bind to mucus. This may result in a symbiotic relationship in which phages find bacterial hosts to infect, protecting the mucus-producing animal from bacterial infections in the process. Here, we studied phage binding on mucus and the effect of mucin on phage-bacterium interactions. The significance of our research is in showing that phage adhesion to mucus results in preventive protection against bacterial infections, which will serve as basis for the development of prophylactic phage therapy approaches. Food Waste is a global significant issue for ethical, environmental and economic reasons, while its management is difficult due to its frequent low visibility. Individual choices and preferences are closely related to the generation of food waste although likely to be modified through education and awareness campaigns.
