Comparison of acceleration and EMG signals in quantifying physical activity

Fyysisen aktiivisuuden puute on muodostumassa kasvavaksi ongelmaksi maailmanlaajuisesti. WHO:n mukaan yli 15 vuotiaista noin 31% eivät liikkuneet terveytensä kannalta tarpeeksi vuonna 2008. Liikkumattomuus on luokiteltu neljänneksi suurimmaksi riskitekijäksi yleiseen kuolleisuuteen maailman laajuisesti. Näin ollen uudenlaista teknologiaa kehitetään fyysisen aktiivisuuden mittaamiseen, jotta ennaltaehkäisevää työtä voidaan tehdä. Abstract Prolonged sedentary behaviour is detrimental to health due to low contractile activity in large lower extremity muscle groups. This muscle inactivity can be measured with electromyography (EMG), but it is unknown how methodological factors affect responsiveness longitudinally. Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan suomalaisten kohtuullistajien elämäntyyliä blogeissa. Aihe on ajankohtainen ja liikkuu useilla sosiologisesti kiinnostavilla alueilla. Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan kohtuullistajien kyseenalaistuksia suomalaista tai laajemmin länsimaista yhteiskuntaa kohtaan. Kohtuullistajat kritisoivat erityisesti materiaalista ja hektistä elämäntapaa. Aineistossa kyseenalaistetaan valtavirtaiset kulutus- ja aikakäytännöt. Despite intensive research on agency in education and work environments, the topic remains underexplored through the lens of emotions. This study conducted the development and validation of a quantitative measure to explore emotional agency in working life. Empirical data (N = 240) were collected via a web-based survey within the professional domains of healthcare and real estate services. Diagnostics of highly charged plasmas with multicomponent 1+ ion injection

We establish multicomponent 1+ injection into a charge breeder electron cyclotron resonance ion source and an associated computational procedure as a noninvasive probe of the electron density ne, average electron energy ⟨Ee⟩, and the characteristic times of ionization, charge exchange, and ion confinement of stochastically heated, highly charged plasma. Multicomponent injection allows refining the ne, ⟨Ee⟩ ranges, reducing experimental uncertainty. Na/K injection is presented as a demonstration. Hajautetun energiajärjestelmän toteutusmahdollisuudet virtausakkuteknologialla

Työssä tutkittiin virtausakkuteknologian soveltuvuutta osana hajautetun energiajärjestelmän toteutusta. Hajautettu virtausakku on laaja energiaverkosto, joka mahdollistaa energiansiirron ja -varastoinnin. Energia varastoidaan virtausakun elektrolyyttiin, jota säilytetään kaukolämpöverkoston kaltaisessa laajassa putkiverkostossa. Elektrolyyttiä siirretään putkiverkostossa maan alla pumppaamalla ja hajautetun akun lataaminen ja purkaminen suoritetaan tuotannon ja kulutuksen yhteydessä kennopinojen välityksellä. Given that a high amount of sedentary behavior is a global health issue, reducing sitting time is emerging as a novel intervention strategy and a workplace health priority. Sit-stand workstations have been introduced to the workplace, and can be used to rotate between sitting and standing postures at work. It is important to develop and evaluate sit-stand interventions that aim to induce behavioral changes and potential health benefits, in order to effectively implement them into practice. This article analyzes experiences of racialization in stories of adult learners with refugee experience who attend a basic education program at a Finnish community college. Throughout a two-year ethnographic study, several students shared stories and thoughts on racialization and racism with the white researcher on site (the author). This article tells and theorizes their stories to gain a deeper understanding of the workings of everyday racialization and racism in a Finnish educational context. In questo saggio, esploro la porta semiotica e pragmatica di un’azione (‘scivolare’), comunemente appartenente all’ambito del quotidiano, per mostrarne invece la valenza teorica e metateorica oltre che d’ordine pratico. Le domande che mi pongo sono le seguenti: come si può riflettere sul quotidiano in chiave antropologica? Come analizzare il senso di un concetto soltanto in apparenza d’uso comune? Come eludere la metafisica radicata nelle nostre proprie analisi? Per rispondere a queste domande, mi sono avvalso del concetto di gioco linguistico formulato da Wittgenstein rinviando allo ‘scivolare’ in opposizione all’‘attrito’ e, infine, al concetto stesso di ‘gioco linguistico’.
