Diversity in the population of Brassica incana Ten. (Cruciferae) in Sicily

henotipic diversity in Sicilian populations of Brassica incana Ten. (Cruciferae) is here ana- lyzed in comparison with the only one known population of B. raimondoi Sciandrello et al., taxonomic close species recently described from the coastal relief of eastern Sicily. The analysis of diagnostic characters of these two taxa does not reveal significant differences that justify a treatment at species level of the population of B. raimondoi. On this base, the authors deemed to include this taxon in the infraspecific variability of B. incana and consider most appropriate the rank of subspecies. Mystemys giganteus n. gen. et sp.: an enigmatic and rare cricetid from the Terre Rosse M013 fissure filling (Gargano, Southeastern Italy).

Mystemys giganteus is a new strongly endemic cricetid that occurs only in the recently discovered M013 Terre Rosse fissure filling of the Gargano area. This species was presented alongside the other taxa of the M013 fissure in a previous paper and it is here described in detail. Although the material includes only five molars, Mystemys is exceptional for its very large size (length of M1: 6.23 mm) and peculiar morphology. The molars are heavy built with bulged and robust cusps, tubercular crests, narrow valleys, very thick and crenulated enamel. Stipa splendens (syn. Achnatherum splendens) has been transferred to Neotrinia (Tzvelev) M. Nobis, P. Gudkovaet A. Nowak gen. nov.as N. splendens (Trin.) M. Nobis, P. Gudkova et A. Nowak, based on a comparison of the macromorphology and lemma micromorphology of the Asian representatives of the tribe Stipeae. Lemma epidermal patterns in the examined species are presented and discussed. Additionally, a new section Pennatherum M. Finnlakeviridae is a family of icosahedral, internal membrane-containing bacterial viruses with circular, single-stranded DNA genomes. The family includes the genus, Finnlakevirus, with the species, Flavobacterium virus FLiP. Flavobacterium phage FLiP was isolated with its Gram-negative host bacterium from a boreal freshwater habitat in Central Finland in 2010. It is the first described single-stranded DNA virus with an internal membrane and shares minimal sequence similarity with other known viruses. In their article, Marta Chyb-Winnicka and Anna Tabisz present a taxonomic approach to the teaching of listening and speaking skills in lessons of Polish as a native language. The authors show that the 2017 provisions of the core curriculum for the Polish language in primary schools in Poland put special emphasis on the development of reading and writing skills. For this reason, Chyb-Winnicka and Tabisz underline the importance of teaching the two other skills, i.e., listening and speaking, and argue that taxonomic categories should be used to systematize the knowledge of these skills.

Abstract Polichne mukonja Griffini, 1908 from Cameroon was hitherto known only from the holotype preserved at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, Brussels. This was probably due to the fact that the genus Polichne Stål, 1874 distributed only in Australia and Papua New Guinea. In view of this distribution, the tropical African species was therefore overlooked in the African literature. The recent discovery of two specimens at the Naturhistorisches Museum, Vienna, now provides us with a better understanding of the identity of this taxon, which is related to the African genus Catoptropteryx Karsch, 1890. The genome is a linear double-stranded DNA of about 30 kbp with inverted terminal repeats and terminal proteins. The capsid has a pseudo triangulation T=28 dextro symmetry and is built of two major capsid protein types. Spike complexes decorate fivefold vertices. The family Simuloviridae includes tailless icosahedral viruses with an internal lipid membrane. The capsid is constructed from two major capsid proteins, both with a single jelly-roll fold. The genome is a circular dsDNA molecule of 16–19 kb. All members infect halophilic archaea in the class Halobacteria (phylum Euryarchaeota) and are temperate viruses, their proviruses residing in host cells as extrachromosomal episomes. Once the lytic life cycle is triggered, production of virions causes cell lysis.
