Technetium-99m mercaptoacetyltriglycine clearance: reference values for infants and children.

Six hundred and thirty-nine clearance studies performed in children aged 7 days to 19 years utilizing technetium-99m mercaptoacetyltriglycine (MAG 3) were retrospectively analysed. Standardized conditions for the investigation included: parenteral hydration (60 ml/hxm2 body surface) in addition to normal oral fluid intake, weight-related dose of99mTc-MAG 3 (1 MBq/kg body weight, minimum 15 MBq) and calculation of clearance according to Bubeck et al. Of the 513 children, 169 included in this analysis could be classified as “normal” with regard to their renal function. Congenital anomalies of kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) occur in up to 3.2% of infants, and in almost one third of cases they are associated to genital aberrations. DMSA renal scintigraphy is considered the gold standard in CAKUT patients, to assess renal function, depict and locate ectopic kidney and to guide eventual surgical management. What do we mean when we talk about the “intelligence” of robots? In what sense does a robot “reason” and “take decisions”? Answering these questions can give food for thought towards understanding whether there is either something so specific in human beings that cannot be reproduced in robots, or—as an alternative—the way to improve robots in emulating human behavior. In the following pages I will try to give my contribution by shedding light on some characteristics concerning human reasoning and rationality, mainly referring to the ancient Greek philosophical tradition.

Oltre all' idea della genesi della dottrina delle cause dal confronto fra techne e physis, l’ipotesi che guida questo studio, a tale idea strettamente connessa, è l’interpretazione della techne aristotelica come sussunzione del divenire naturale, e delle sue catene causali, entro l’operare umano in vista di un fine: la similitudine fra techne e physis viene colta da Aristotele nell’essere entrambe movimenti che producono enti imponendo una forma ad una materia adeguata e secondo un piano finalizzato; in entrambi questi processi la causa formale e la causa finale del movimento giungono, da un certo punto di vista, ad identificarsi.
Effect of 99mTc elution in vivo from red cells on red cell volumes measured using autologous 99mTc-labeled red cells: comparison with 51Cr method

The purpose of this work was to compare the measured red-cell volume (RCV) using sodium pertechnetate [RCV-99mTc] compared to the reference technique using sodium radiochromate [RCV-51Cr] and to assess the influence of technetium-99 elution on the RCV-99mTc value. Ten patients had simultaneous measurements of RCV-99mTc and RCV-51Cr. Elution of Tc-99m from red blood cells was 2.9% and led to an average overestimation of RCV-99mTc of 3.7%. The introduction of individual tracer elution rates in the RCV-99mTc calculation corrects this overestimation.

International audience; The β decay of Tc100 has been studied by using the total absorption γ-ray spectroscopy technique at the Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line facility in Jyväskylä. In this work the new Decay Total Absorption γ-ray Spectrometer in coincidence with a cylindrical plastic β detector has been employed. The β intensity to the ground state obtained from the analysis is in good agreement with previous high-resolution measurements. An early detection of the disease can prevent clinical sequellae such as angina, myocardial infarction, and stroke. The different imaging techniques employed to visualize the atherosclerotic plaque provide information of diagnostic and prognostic value.
