Il fascino dell’intuizione femminile: Marie Trautmann (in Jaëll), pianista, pedagoga e ricercatrice

2020

Over the centuries, the differences between genders have led to strong disparities for the assertion of women’s artistic value. In the history of music, in particular, many women musicians did not get the right recognition because of a cultural context that could not enhance their work. This is the case of Marie Trautmann, better known as Marie Jaëll (1846-1925), wife of the Austrian concert pianist Alfred Jaëll (1832-1882). Trautmann is a 19th century woman-musician and an important figure in the history of music still to be discovered, not only for her activity as concert pianist, composer, pedagogue, but mainly for her empirical research work, which aimed at improving the piano technique…

Fysiikan ja musiikin oppiaineintegrointi lukiotasolla

2014

Fysiikan ja musiikin oppiaineintegraatiosta on vähän tutkimusta, vaikka oppiaineet tarjoavat lukuisia mahdollisuuksia integroinnin toteuttamiseen. Integrointi auttaa tutkitusti muodostamaan opetettavista sisällöistä arjessa sovellettavia merkityksellisiä kokonaisuuksia. Tällöin opetus valmentaa opiskelijaa paremmin elämässä tarvittaviin taitoihin. Integrointi vaatii opettajilta käytännössä paljon, ja kahden aineen sisältöjen ja aikataulujen sovittaminen yhteen on haastavaa. Tämän tutkielman tarkoitus on kartoittaa lukion oppimäärän sisällä olevia integrointimahdollisuuksia ja antaa esimerkkejä integroituvista sisällöistä. Kartoitus perustuu voi-massa olevien opetussuunnitelmien, oppiaineide…

Dynamic Functional Connectivity in the Musical Brain

2019

Musical training causes structural and functional changes in the brain due to its sensory-motor demands. This leads to differences in how musicians perceive and process music as compared to non-musicians, thereby providing insights into brain adaptations and plasticity. Correlational studies and network analysis investigations have indicated the presence of large-scale brain networks involved in the processing of music and have highlighted differences between musicians and non-musicians. However, studies on functional connectivity in the brain during music listening tasks have thus far focused solely on static network analysis. Dynamic Functional Connectivity (DFC) studies have lately been …

Mesurer le goût. Quand la mémoire s'en mêle

2011

Tetragonal tungsten bronzes Nb8−xW9+xO47−δ: optimization strategies and transport properties of a new n-type thermoelectric oxide

2015

Engineering of nanoscaled structures may help controlling the electrical and thermal transport in solids, in particular for thermoelectric applications that require the combination of low thermal conductivity and low electrical resistivity. The tetragonal tungsten bronzes Nb8−xW9+xO47 (TTB) allow a continuous variation of the charge carrier concentration while fulfilling at the same time the concept of a “phonon-glass electron-crystal” through a layered nanostructure defined by intrinsic crystallographic shear planes. The thermoelectric properties of the tetragonal tungsten bronzes Nb8−xW9+xO47−δ (0 < x < 2) were studied in the temperature range from 373 to 973 K. Structural defects and the…

Purification of Nano-Porous Silicon for Biomedical Applications

2011

Recently, various bio-medical applications of nanoporous silicon (np-Si) have been suggested. This work investigates the biocompatibility of np-Si particles taking into account hazardous residua confined in the pores after preparation. The emphasis is on the potential application of such particles as oxygen photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy of cancer, which requires both negligible toxicity of np-Si particles in darkness and a high photo-cyto-toxic effect due to generation of singlet oxygen under illumination. Considerable amounts of water soluble toxic impurities are found to be present in the nanoporous shell of micrometer-sized np-Si particles immediately after their preparation b…
