Fick Diffusion Coefficients in Ternary Liquid Systems from Equilibrium Molecular Dynamics Simulations

An approach for computing Fick diffusivities directly from equilibrium molecular dynamics (MD) simulations is presented and demonstrated for a ternary chloroform–acetone–methanol liquid mixture. In our approach, Fick diffusivities are calculated from the Maxwell–Stefan (MS) diffusivities and the so-called matrix of thermodynamic factors. MS diffusivities describe the friction between different molecular species and can be directly computed from MD simulations. The thermodynamic factor describes the deviation from ideal mixing behavior and is difficult to extract from both experiments and simulations. The aim of the present study was to assess the effects of nutritional supplementation on neuropsychiatric symptoms among people with dementia. Methods/Design: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were searched in the Databases PubMed, EMBASE, SCOPUS, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and Clinicaltrials.gov from inception until January 31, 2020. Studies of RCTs carried out on people with any type of dementia who were taking nutritional supplements and had neuropsychiatric symptoms were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Estimation of the Repeatedly-Projected Reduced Density Matrix under Decoherence

Decoherence is believed to deteriorate the ability of a purification scheme that is based on the idea of driving a system to a pure state by repeatedly measuring another system in interaction with the former and hinder for a pure state to be extracted asymptotically. Nevertheless, we find a way out of this difficulty by deriving an analytic expression of the reduced density matrix for a two-qubit system immersed in a bath. It is shown that we can still extract a pure state if the environment brings about only dephasing effects. In addition, for a dissipative environment, there is a possibility of obtaining a dominant pure state when we perform a finite number of measurements.

We study the questions of existence and uniqueness of weak and entropy solutions for equations of type -div a(x, Du)+γ(u) ∋ φ, posed in an open bounded subset Ω of ℝN, with nonlinear boundary conditions of the form a(x, Du)·η+β(u) ∋ ψ. The nonlinear elliptic operator div a(x, Du) is modeled on the p-Laplacian operator Δp(u) = div (|Du|p−2Du), with p > 1, γ and β are maximal monotone graphs in ℝ2 such that 0 ∈ γ(0) and 0 ∈ β(0), and the data φ ∈ L1 (Ω) and ψ ∈ L1 (∂Ω). Analytical Expressions for Radiative Losses in Solar Cells

Analytical expressions for the fundamental losses in single junction solar cells are revised and improved. The losses are, as far as possible, described using parameters with clear physical interpretations. One important improvement compared to earlier work is the use of Lambert’s W function, which allows for analytical expressions for the voltage and current at the maximum power point. Other improvements include the use of Stefan Boltzmann’s law to describe the incoming energy flux as well as taking into account the fermionic nature of the electrons when calculating the thermalization loss.
