Measurement of the surface resistivity and electrical conductivity of carbon nanotube sheets using the resonant post-method
2016
Abstract The dielectric post-resonant measurement method is extended to characterize the conduction properties of carbon nanotube sheets in the GHz frequency range ( 3 GHz f 20 GHz ) without the need for external contacts or the necessity of carbon coating. Three low-loss reference dielectrics ( TiO 2 , BaTi 4 O 9 , Teflon) with known dielectric properties are used. Conductivity values of various metals (steel, lead, brass, aluminium, copper) of the order 106–107 S/m were measured to show the suitability of the method. The electrical conductivity of the carbon nanotube sheets could be determined to approximately 1.7·105 S/m.

Dielectric-loaded plasmonic waveguide components: Going practical
2013
Surface plasmon propagating modes supported by metal/dielectric interfaces in various configurations can be used for radiation guiding similarly to conventional dielectric waveguides. Plasmonic waveguides offer two attractive features: subdiffraction mode confinement and the presence of conducting elements at the mode-field maximum. The first feature can be exploited to realize ultrahigh density of nanophotonics components, whereas the second feature enables the development of dynamic components controlling the plasmon propagation with ultralow signals, minimizing heat dissipation in switching elements. While the first feature is yet to be brought close to the domain of practical applicatio…
0.48Tb/s (12x40Gb/s) WDM transmission and high-quality thermo-optic switching in dielectric loaded plasmonics
2012
We demonstrate Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM)-enabled transmission of 480Gb/s aggregate data traffic (12x40Gb/s) as well as high-quality 1x2 thermo-optic tuning in Dielectric-Loaded Surface Plasmon Polariton Waveguides (DLSPPWs). The WDM transmission characteristics have been verified through BER measurements by exploiting the heterointegration of a 60 mu m-long straight DLSPPW on a Silicon-on-Insulator waveguide platform, showing error-free performance for six out of the twelve channels. High-quality thermo-optic tuning has been achieved by utilizing Cycloaliphatic-Acrylate-Polymer as an efficient thermo-optic polymer loading employed in a dual-resonator DLSPPW switching structure, …
Impact of amplitude jitter and signal-to-noise ratio on the nonlinear spectral compression in optical fibres
2017
International audience; We numerically study the effects of amplitude fluctuations and signal-to-noise ratio degradation of the seed pulses on the spectral compression process arising from nonlinear propagation in an optical fibre. The unveiled quite good stability of the process against these pulse degradation factors is assessed in the context of optical regeneration of intensity-modulated signals, by combining nonlinear spectral compression with centered bandpass optical filtering. The results show that the proposed nonlinear processing scheme indeed achieves mitigation of the signal's amplitude noise. However, in the presence of a jitter of the temporal duration of the pulses, the perfo…
Group birefringence cancellation in highly birefringent photonic crystal fibre at telecommunication wavelengths
2010
International audience; The spectral dependence of the group modal birefringence in a highly birefringent nonlinear photonic crystal fibre is studied both numerically and experimentally. The sign inversion and the cancellation of the group modal birefringence in the telecommunication window is demonstrated. Two simple experimental techniques are used to evaluate the wavelength of zero polarisation mode dispersion. The experimental results are in excellent agreement with numerical calculations based on vectorial beam propagation method simulations.
Measurement of the Electrostriction-Induced Refractive Index Modulation Using Long Period Fiber Gratings
2020
We report the measurement of the refractive index modulation in optical fibers generated by electrostrictively driven acoustic waves through the change in transmission in a long period fiber grating.
Compact Mach-Zehnder acousto-optic modulator
2006
The authors demonstrate a compact optical waveguide modulator based on a Mach-Zehnder interferometer driven by surface acoustic waves. The modulator was monolithically fabricated on GaAs with an active region length of approximately 15μm. It yields peak-to-peak modulation exceeding 90% of the average transmission and operation in the gigahertz frequency range.
Phase behavior of low-functionality, telechelic star block copolymers.
2010
We apply state-of-the-art, Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations to determine the self-organization and phase behavior of solutions of block copolymer stars. The latter consist of f AB-block copolymers with N monomers each, which contain a solvophilic block A and solvophobic block B, and which are tethered on a common center on their A-side. We vary the degree of polymerization N and the relative composition of the block copolymer arms and investigate the interplay between macrophase and microphase separation in the system. Preliminary results of the effect of increasing the number of arms, f of the stars are also presented.

1997
A new approach for the study of grafted polyelectrolytes is investigated: monolayers at the air/water interface of block copolymers consisting of a liquid hydrophobic and a polyelectrolyte block. ...
