This paper deals with a convex optimization approach to the problem of robust network-based H ∞ control for linear systems connected over a common digital communication network with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. Though it is common in network control systems that the sensor and control signals are transmitted via a common communication network, no result is available in investigating the stabilization problem for uncertain nonlinear systems with both input and state quantization. AQM generalized nyquist stability in multiple bottleneck networks

Abstract The influence of multiple bottlenecks on the stability of Active Queue Management (AQM) controllers, usually configured on a single bottleneck basis is discussed. We consider a network scenario where RED is configured at each router according to previously developed control theoretic techniques. These configuration rules assure stability in a single bottleneck scenario. We show that instability may arise when two links become congested. We justify this result through a multiple bottleneck model using the Generalized Nyquist stability criterion.

An Encoding in Metaheuristics for the Minimum Communication Spanning Tree Problem

Problem-specific encodings can improve the performance of metaheuristics, such as genetic algorithms or simulated annealing. This paper studies the link-biased (LB) encoding, which is a tree representation, and applies metaheuristics using this encoding to the minimum communication spanning tree (MCST) problem. Given the communication requirements of the nodes, the MCST problem seeks a communication spanning tree with minimum total cost. Optimal solutions for MCST problems are similar to minimum spanning trees (MSTs), and the LB encoding exploits this property by encoding trees similar to MSTs with higher probability. The solution of today's complex problems requires the grouping of task forces whose members are usually connected remotely over long physical distances and different time zones. Hence, understanding the effects of imposed communication patterns (i.e., who can communicate with whom) on group performance is important. An analytical model of a new packet marking algorithm for TCP flows

In Differentiated Services networks, packets may receive a different treatment according to their Differentiateo Services Code Point (DSCP) label. As a consequence, packet marking schemes can also be devised to differentiate packets belonging to a same TCP flow, with the goal of improving the performance experienced. This paper presents an analytical model for an adaptive packet marking scheme proposed in our previous work.
