The paper deals with foreign accent performance in two popular comedy shows in Finnish television. Two different foreign accents of L2 Finnish – Russian and Swedish – were performed by two fictional characters: Svetlana Rönkkö, a Russian-born woman, and Tove Hansson, a Swedish speaking woman coming from the Åland Islands. Our main focus is on the empirical analysis of the phonetic features in these performances. The features are analysed as such, in relation to the empirically studied, “authentic”, features of L1 Russian and Swedish Finnishes. We evaluated the requirements on spatial resolution of digital imaging equipment in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. Fifty cinefilms of the heart as the biological object and one film of a lead-ladder-pattern as an objective test were used. The patient films were examined for the visibility of the left ventricular angiogram, coronary arterial tree, coronary artery lesions, branching of septal arteries and the number of septal arteries. All films were viewed three times: with a 625 line TV-system, with a 1249 line TV-system and with a cineprojector. Escapist use is often considered the main use for movies in Uses and Gratification research, however there is hardly a detailed account on such use, on what the movie audience escape into. The present study, which consists of a research article and a monograph, has tried to utilize a qualitative approach to provide a better understanding of escapist movie viewing. The other aspect of this research is trying to compare such use among Finnish nationals and immigrants in Finland to see how people from different backgrounds might vary in their escapist use of movies. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli tutkia naispuolisten hahmojen rakentumista amerikkalaisessa Sons of Anarchy –televisiosarjassa. Sarjan tapahtumat sijoittuvat kuvitteelliseen kalifornialaiseen pikkukaupunkiin, jossa toimii lainsuojaton moottoripyöräkerho. Aineistona käytettiin sarjan neljää ensimmäistä tuotantokautta (2008-2011) keskittyen dialogeihin, joissa kaksi keskeisintä naishahmoa olivat joko osallisina tai puheenaiheina.
