Supercontinuum optimization for dual-soliton based light sources using genetic algorithms in a grid platform
2014
We present a numerical strategy to design fiber based dual pulse light sources exhibiting two predefined spectral peaks in the anomalous group velocity dispersion regime. The frequency conversion is based on the soliton fission and soliton self-frequency shift occurring during super- continuum generation. The optimization process is carried out by a genetic algorithm that provides the optimum input pulse parameters: wavelength, temporal width and peak power. This algorithm is implemented in a Grid platform in order to take advantage of distributed computing. These results are useful for optical coherence tomography applications where bell-shaped pulses located in the second near-infrared wi…
Identification of Spatial-Temporal Muscle Synergies from EMG Epochs of Various Durations: A Time-Warped Tensor Decomposition
2018
Extraction of muscle synergies from electromyography (EMG) recordings relies on the analysis of multi-trial muscle activation data. To identify the underlying modular structure, dimensionality reduction algorithms are usually applied to the EMG signals. This process requires a rigid alignment of muscle activity across trials that is typically achieved by the normalization of the length of each trial. However, this time-normalization ignores important temporal variability that is present on single trials as result of neuromechanical processes or task demands. To overcome this limitation, we propose a novel method that simultaneously aligns muscle activity data and extracts spatial and tempor…
Le temps du désir : ontologies de l'imaginaire et de l'affectivité chez Sartre, Merleau- Ponty et Grimaldi
2013
This study aims at confronting the ontologies of the imaginary of Sartre, Merleau-Ponty and Grimaldi. Following the path of a critical assessment of Bergsonism, each of these philosophies develops by granting ontological value to the negative, and through a reconsideration of the meaning of temporality. A new approach of negativity emerges from the reflection on the status of the image and further, upon the relationships between real and imaginary, past and present, conscious and subconscious. Merleau-Ponty and Grimaldi thus reject dialectics of being and nothingness in favour of the idea of a negativity thoroughly penetrating being itself; the first one opening the way for a phenomenologic…
Le notificazioni nel processo civile
2014
Inside service-intensive projects: Analyzing inbuilt tensions
2015
The purpose of this research is to identify typical professional and occupational groups in service-intensive projects, and illustrate the inbuilt tensions among them through the lens of institutional theory. The cases used for the study are a wind turbine business and a content management system project business. Our findings suggest that there are two professional groups (problem solvers, technology developers) and two occupational groups (lead generators, relationship developers) involved in these businesses. More importantly, their intergroup tensions are related to different institutionalized logics toward the conception of time (project temporality) and prioritization of different asp…
Older rehabilitees’ life-course agency in Finnish gerontological rehabilitation
2015
Aims: This study investigates gerontological rehabilitation sessions of Finnish rehabilitees in the framework of life-course agency from the perspectives of temporal orientation and agency. Methods: The research data were obtained by non-participatory observation in 11 individual goal-setting sessions between 11 rehabilitees and their personal counsellors. The data were analysed in accordance with data-driven, qualitative content and narrative analysis, with an emphasis on the life-course agency approach. Results: Four temporal orientations of older rehabilitees were identified in the rehabilitation sessions: (i) timeless, (ii) past, (iii) present, and (iv) life course. For each temporal or…
The synergy of water quality and sea surface currents data in determining the spatio-temporal evolution of large-scale circulation features
2014
Chlorophyll-a (CHL-a) and Sea Surface Temperature (SST), amongst others, are proxies or indicators for water quality and can be easily retrieved synoptically and almost in near-real time through satellite remote-sensing. However, as they evolve in space and time in response to winds and currents, a full resolution of the temporal and spatial scales of these latters is required and their influence in shaping the distribution of water quality parameters needs to be assessed. While providing synoptic views and revealing mesoscale features, satellites suffer, indeed, from inadequate representation of sub-grid physical processes and lack of temporal resolution. Conventional point-wise measuremen…
Dobra doczesne Kościoła w pracach i dokumencie końcowym I Synodu Diecezji Opolskiej
2018
The Church’s Temporal Goods in the Work and the Final Document Drafted by the First Synod of the Diocese of Opole
2018
In the article, a reflection is made on the legal regulations developed by the First Synod of the Dio-cese of Opole, concerning the management of temporal goods of the Diocese. The study presents the content of 17 statutes and 5 annexes (as well as considering earlier studies produced by one of the synodal working commissions, intended to be discussed by the parish synodal groups), and reflects on the completeness of the legal treatment of this vital yet complex area of ecclesiastical life. The solutions adopted by the Synod should be considered incomplete, but the synodal legislator, that is the diocesan bishop, has the right to enact such particular norms as he deems appropriate and neces…
