On the role of extensional flow in morphology and property modifications of MWCNT/polyamide-based fibres

Unfilled and MWCNT-filled PA fibers are prepared and the effect of the extensional flow on their mechanical performance and morphological variations is investigated. Morphological analyses using SEM, TEM, and SAXS suggest a stronger orientation of the MWCNTs along the fiber direction with increasing extensional flow. A particular MWCNT bundle formation in the PA drawn nanocomposite fibers is observed for the first time, and a pull-out of the central nanotube in some bundles is noted. The maintenance of the “shish-kebab” structure upon extensional flow is responsible for the mechanical improvements and dimensional stability in MWCNT-filled PA fibers.

In order to understand the possible mechanisms contributing to enhanced concentric performance in stretch-shortening cycle exercises in vivo the present study examined knee extension torque, EMG activity and fascicle length of the vastus lateralis muscle in maximal and submaximal human movements. Maximal concentric knee extensions (120 s-1) were done after pre-stretch and pre-isometric conditions by nine volunteers. During shortening at the knee angle of 115 (180 = extended) the knee extension torque was found to be greater in pre-stretch condition (272 vs. 248 Nm, p < 0.05) although the torque level prior to shortening was smaller than in pre-isometric condition (268 vs. 314 Nm, p< 0.05…

Eliminating industrially produced trans-fatty acids (TFAs) from the food supply is one of the World Health Organization's (WHO's) priority targets to control and prevent non-communicable diseases. This review paper describes the strategies used to reduce TFA consumption in Thailand based on a situation analysis consisting of an assessment of TFA content in the national food supply, its intake, and stakeholder-based analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT). The analysis resulted in the drafting of a regulatory approach, which was then considered by stakeholders. This paper seeks to analyse sport sponsorship in Finland via using the case study of Football Club JJK Jyväskylä from the Finnish Premier League. The results of a master’s thesis conducted on FC JJK fans’ sponsor awareness and sponsor orientation is presented. This research has provided implications to the management of the club, such as how to increase sponsorship efficiency, how to benefit from applying sponsorship alignment as well as relationship marketing. In order to successfully implement the study, an online survey, interviews, and participant observation was utilised. In addition, statistical data were obtained from the club.
