Reconfigurations in sustainability transitions : a systematic and critical review

Two streams of literature have become especially prominent in understanding social change toward sustainability within the past decades: the research on socio-technical transitions and applications of social practice theory. The aim of this article is to contribute to efforts to create dialogue between these two approaches. We do this by focusing on the concept of reconfiguration, which has become a much-used, but poorly defined notion in the discussion on sustainability transitions. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan itsemurhan ja lapsenmurhan kysymyksiä amerikkalaisen kirjailijan Sylvia Plathin (1932−1963) tuotannossa sekä kirjailijan elämään kohdistuvissa representaatioissa. Analysoin Plathille omistetun nettifoorumin Sylvia Plath Forum kirjoituksia sekä erityisesti runon ”Edge” tulkintoja Plath-tutkimuksessa. Non linear control of glycaemia in type 1 diabetic patients

A fuzzy controller for the closed loop control, by insulin infusion of glycaemia in type 1 diabetic patients is proposed. The controller uses type-2 fuzzy sets. The controller was tested in simulation using a complex nonlinear model of the glucose metabolism. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness and the robustness of the type-2 fuzzy logic controller. The design of the controller uses an optimization method based on genetic algorithms. This makes the type-2 fuzzy controller more efficient and faster than a fuzzy controller with type-1 fuzzy sets, allowing a more accurate control of the glucose in the blood.

El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar las aspiraciones vitales de deportistas adolescentes de alto rendimiento y su relación con la pasión que tienen con respecto a su deporte. Participaron 234 deportistas argentinos (47,9 % varones; 52,1 % mujeres) de entre 12 y 16 años de edad (M = 14,48; DT = 1,09) pertenecientes al Plan de Desarrollo de los Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud (Buenos Aires, 2018), quienes respondieron un cuestionario sociodemográfico, el Inventario de Aspiraciones vitales y la Escala de Pasión. European Politics of Food Origin. A Semiotic Analysis of Geographical Indications

This chapter investigates the relationship between food products and origin places within the European Union food policies. In the 1990s, the EU established a Geographical Indication (GI) system, constituted of a set of food quality brands and a legal framework for food, wine and spirits. This system, defined as a sui generis model by insiders, entails a strong EU government participation in the typical food symbolic and material modelling. The sui generis model establishes a government monopoly on the place-based labels registration and institutes an atypical kind of intellectual property based on geographic marks.
