A general nonexistence result for inhomogeneous semilinear wave equations with double damping and potential terms

2021

Abstract We investigate the large-time behavior of solutions for a class of inhomogeneous semilinear wave equations involving double damping and potential terms. Namely, we first establish a general criterium for the absence of global weak solutions. Next, some special cases of potential and inhomogeneous terms are studied. In particular, when the inhomogeneous term depends only on the variable space, the Fujita critical exponent and the second critical exponent in the sense of Lee and Ni are derived.

Supersymmetry currents and WZ-like terms in (supersymmetry)2 models

1990

Abstract Using the superfield formulation of the N = 1 spinning superparticle model as an example, the superfield currents associated with the target space supersymmetry are given, and the component expression of the corresponding superalgebra is found to describe a graded “doubling” of the Poincare superalgebra. Further, it is shown how the torsion-like term in the spinning super-particle model can be obtained from the form associated with the Green-Schwarz WZ term for the superstring, and a possible way of introducing extended spinning supersymmetric objects is discussed.

Design and Performance of a High Temperature Superconducting Axial Flux Generator

2013

In this paper, a high temperature axial flux (HTSAF) generator is presented. In this generator the excitation of the generator is obtained by using some high temperature superconducting magnets. In order to reduce the negative effects of vibrations, the excitation is located on the stationary part of the generator. Starting, running and endurance tests of the machine are presented.

Systematic review of chewing simulators : reality and reproducibility of in vitro studies

2020

Background The aim of this systematic review was to analyze the types of human chewing simulator described in scientific literature. Material and Methods An electronic search was conducted in the databases PubMed, Embase and Scopus. The search strategy included 10 search terms: “in vitro”; “dental materials”; “shear strength”; “fatigue fracture”; “bite force”; “prosthetic materials”; “chewing simulator”; “chewing machine”; “simulated mastication”; and “dental wear simulator.” Two researchers worked independently to assess the titles and abstracts of the articles. The quality of the in vitro trials selected was evaluated by means of the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials scale. Resul…

[Evolution and scientific impact of research grants from the spanish society of cardiology and spanish heart foundation (2000-2006)].

2011

Abstract Introduction and objectives The Sociedad Espanola de Cardiologia (Spanish Society of Cardiology) every year awards grants to finance research in the field of cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study is to identify the impact of these investments during the period 2000-2006 from the subsequently published articles in scientific journals. Methods Using the identifying data of each project as search terms, all articles that resulted from these grants were located in the Spanish Indice Medico Espanol and Indice Bibliografico Espanol en Ciencias de la Salud databases, and in Science Citation Index-Expanded and Scopus. Descriptive statistical analysis of these articles included typ…

Chemokine receptor CXCR4-prognostic factor for gastrointestinal tumors

2008

To review the implication of CXCR4 for gastrointestinal cancer, a "Pubmed" analysis was performed in order to evaluate the relevance of CXCR4 and its ligands for gastrointestinal cancers. Search terms applied were "cancer, malignoma, esophageal, gastric, colon, colorectal, hepatic, pancreatic, CXCR4, SDF-1alpha, and SDF-1beta". CXCR4 expression correlated with dissemination of diverse gastrointestinal malignomas. The CXCR4 ligand SDF-1alpha might act as "chemorepellent" while SDF-1beta might act as "chemorepellent" for CTLs, inducing tumor rejection. The paracrine expression of SDF-1alpha was furthermore closely associated with neoangiogenesis. CXCR4 and its ligands influence the disseminat…

Evaluation of the optimal renewable electricity mix for Lampedusa island: The adoption of a technical and economical methodology

2020

Abstract Worldwide, the majority of small islands not connected to the main grid is still dependent on fossil fuels. From an economic and environmental point of view, this condition is no more sustainable given the high costs for electricity generation and the high level of pollutant emissions. Furthermore, the dependence on fossil fuel represents a risk for the security of the supply of several small developing Countries since they are obliged to import those resources from foreign Countries. The introduction of renewable energy sources in small islands represents a valid solution to solve these problems. In this context, the paper investigates the case of Lampedusa, a small Italian island…

A Novel Architecture for Inter-FPGA Traffic Collision Management

2014

International audience; —with the increasing complexity of various communi-cations and applications, Network-On-Chip (NoC) is one of the most efficient communication structures. Multi-FPGA platforms are considered as the most appropriate experimental solutions to emulate a large size of MPSoCs (Multi-Processor System-on-Chip) based on a NoC. The deployment of the NoC into several FPGAs requires the use of inter-FPGA communication links. The number and performance of external links restrict the bandwidth of communication. Currently, the number of inter-FPGA signals is considered as a substantial problem in NoC implemented on Multi-FPGA architectures. In this paper, we propose the integration…
