Effects of Sanctions, Moral Beliefs, and Neutralization on Information Security Policy Violations Across Cultures

A principal concern of organizations is the failure of employees to comply with information security policies (ISPs). Deterrence theory is one of the most frequently used theories for examining ISP violations, yet studies using this theory have produced mixed results. Past research has indicated that cultural differences may be one reason for these inconsistent findings and have hence called for cross-cultural research on deterrence in information security. To address this gap, we formulated a model including deterrence, moral beliefs, shame, and neutralization techniques and tested it with the employees from 48 countries working for a large multinational company. peerReviewed

Il terremoto del 1823 in Sicilia settentrionale: danni e ricostruzioni

Il 5 marzo 1823 si verificò un terremoto che investì gran parte della Sicilia settentrionale. Numerosi danni si verificarono a Palermo, nelle aree limitrofe a sud e ovest della capitale, in alcuni centri delle Madonie e nelle zone situate lungo il litorale e l’immediato entroterra tirrenico da Palermo a Patti (in particolare a Naso). Il contributo intende indagare, attraverso lo studio delle opere degli autori coevi al sisma e soprattutto di una copiosa documentazione archivistica, le modalità attraverso le quali ci si raffrontò con i problemi determinati dal terremoto, dalla gestione dell'emergenza, all'analisi dei danni e delle successive ricostruzioni. Ecological Stoichiometry of Bumblebee Castes, Sexes, and Age Groups

Ecological stoichiometry is important for revealing how the composition of chemical elements of organisms is influenced by their physiological functions and ecology. In this study, we investigated the elemental body composition of queens, workers, and males of the bumblebee Bombus terrestris, an important pollinator throughout Eurasia, North America, and northern Africa. Our results showed that body elemental content differs among B. terrestris castes. Young queens and workers had higher body nitrogen concentration than ovipositing queens and males, while castes did not differ significantly in their body carbon concentration. L’importance de l’artisanat autunois et son développement jusqu’au iiie siècle prennent racine à Bibracte qui a su exploiter les ressources naturelles de son environnement et parfaire un savoir-faire local ayant survécu à la conquête. Les recherches sur ces activités manufacturières menées conjointement à Bibracte et à Autun nous offrent ainsi une opportunité d’étudier ces problématiques sur la durée. A geophysical investigation that included seismic-reflection surveying and time-domain electromagnetics (EM) was carried out in the Flumendosa River Delta plain in southeastern Sardinia, Italy. The objective was to improve knowledge of geologic and hydrogeologic controls on a highly productive aquifer hosted in thick Quaternary deposits and known to be affected by an extensive saltwater intrusion.
