Occurrence and Antimicrobial Resistance of Arcobacter spp. Recovered from Aquatic Environments

Arcobacter spp. are emerging waterborne and foodborne zoonotic pathogens responsible for gastroenteritis in humans. In this work, we evaluated the occurrence and the antimicrobial resistance profile of Arcobacter isolates recovered from different aquatic sources. Besides, we searched for Arcobacter spp. in seaweeds and the corresponding seawater samples. Bacteriological and molecular methods applied to 100 samples led to the isolation of 28 Arcobacter isolates from 27 samples. The highest prevalence was detected in rivers followed by artificial ponds, streams, well waters, and spring waters. Observation of inclined EeV air showers with the radio detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory

With the Auger Engineering Radio Array (AERA) of the Pierre Auger Observatory, we have observed the radio emission from 561 extensive air showers with zenith angles between 60 and 84. In contrast to air showers with more vertical incidence, these inclined air showers illuminate large ground areas of several km2 with radio signals detectable in the 30 to 80 MHz band. A comparison of the measured radio-signal amplitudes with Monte Carlo simulations of a subset of 50 events for which we reconstruct the energy using the Auger surface detector shows agreement within the uncertainties of the current analysis. The determination of the primary energy of extensive air showers using the fluorescence detection technique requires an estimation of the energy carried away by particles that do not deposit all their energy in the atmosphere. This estimation is typically made using Monte Carlo simulations and thus depends on the assumed primary particle mass and on model predictions for neutrino and muon production. In this work we present a new method to obtain the invisible energy from events detected by the Pierre Auger Observatory. Bakalaura darba tēma ir „Nacionālie motīvi tetovējumu izvēlē: klientu un mākslinieku pieredze”. Pētījuma mērķis ir uzzināt tetovēšanās mākslinieku un klientu pieredzi nacionāla tetovējuma izvēlē un izveidē. Pētījums veikts, izmantojot kvalitatīvās pētniecības metodes – daļēji strukturētas intervijas ar tetovēšanās māksliniekiem un nacionāla tetovējuma īpašniekiem. Pētījums pierāda, ka nacionāls tetovējums ir simbols, kas laika gaitā nozīmi nemaina.

Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Sievišķība un tetovēts sievietes ķermenis”. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt, tetovēta ķermeņa un sievišķības savienojamību no tetovēto sieviešu pieredzes. Apakšmērķis ir aplūkot sabiedrības uzskatus par tetovējumiem uz sieviešu ķermeņiem. Mērķa sasniegšanai tika izmantotas daļēji strukturētas intervijas un interneta aptauja ar tetovētām sievietēm. Tika noskaidrots, ka tetovēts ķermenis ir savienojams ar sievišķību.

The ''theory of the dream'' discussed in the final section of the Theaetetus is based on a proportion: stoicheion is to syllabé as onoma is to logos. The four terms indicate the simple and the complex in the two components, phonic and semantic, of language. More specifically, logos does not mean ''reason'', stoicheion does not mean ''letter'' and syllabé does not only mean ''syllable''. Logos does not mean ''reason''. In the final part of Theaetetus, logos is associated with ''lego'' (''to say''), and opposed to onoma (''name'', ''word'').
