A tetranuclear cubane-like nickel(II) complex with a tridentate salicylideneimine Schiff base ligand: tetrakis[μ3-4-methyl-N-(2-oxidophenyl)salicylid…

2016

The tetranuclear title complex, [Ni4(C14H11NO2)4(CH3OH)4]·0.8CH3OH, has a distorted cubane topology shaped by four Schiff base ligands. The cubane [Ni4(μ3-O4)] core is formedviathe O atoms from the Schiff base ligands. The octahedrally coordinated NiIIions occupy alternating vertices of the cube. Each NiIIion is coordinated by oneO,N,O′-tridentate dianionic ligand, two O atoms of oxidophenyl groups from adjacent ligands and the O atom of a coordinating methanol molecule. The cubane core is stabilizedviaan intramolecular O—H...O hydrogen bond between the hydroxy group of the coordinating methanol molecules and the phenolate O atom of the aldehyde Schiff base fragment. Additional stabilizatio…

THE FINE STRUCTURE OF O2 Hb BINDING IN ANIMALS: SALMO IRIDEUS

1980

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the experimental results on study of the fine structure of O 2 Hb binding in animals. It is evident that the n ( S ) function represents a new tool to look at homotropic interactions, both qualitatively and quantitatively. At the moment, there are four applications: (1) study of molecular mechanism; (2) study of effectors, also pharmacological; (3) improved characterization of O 2 Hb binding, also in pathological cases; and (4) comparative studies in animals. Whole blood of fish is also investigated because usually there are found several hemoglobins. During registration of the O 2 binding curve, pH is not kept constant. Assuming that the Donnan fact…

Efficient stabilisation of a dihydrogenphosphate tetramer and a dihydrogenpyrophosphate dimer by a cyclic pseudopeptide containing 1,4-disubstituted …

2017

A cyclic pseudooctapeptide 2 is described containing 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole moieties. This compound features eight converging hydrogen bond donors along the ring, namely four amide NH and four triazole CH groups, which enable 2 to engage in interactions with anions. While fully deprotonated sulfate anions exhibit only moderate affinity for 2, protonated anions such as dihydrogenpyrophosphate and dihydrogenphosphate anions are strongly bound. Complexation of the phosphate-derived anions involves sandwiching of a dihydrogenpyrophosphate dimer or a dihydrogenphosphate tetramer between two pseudopeptide rings. X-ray crystallography provided structural information, while 1H NMR spectro…
