Search for the Higgs Boson Produced in Association withZ→ℓ+ℓ−inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2009
We present a search for associated production of the standard model (SM) Higgs boson and a Z boson where the Z boson decays to two leptons and the Higgs decays to a pair of b quarks in p{bar p} collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. We use event probabilities based on SM matrix elements to construct a likelihood function of the Higgs content of the data sample. In a CDF data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb{sup -1} we see no evidence of a Higgs boson with a mass between 100 GeV/c{sup 2} and 150 GeV/c{sup 2}. We set 95% confidence level (C.L.) upper limits on the cross-section for ZH production as a function of the Higgs boson mass m{sub H}; the limit is 8.2 times the…
Search for the pair production of scalar top quarks in the acoplanar charm jet final state in collisions at
2007
A search for the pair production of scalar top quarks, {bar t}, has been performed in 360 pb{sup -1} of data from p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The {bar t} decay mode considered is {bar t} {yields} c{bar {chi}}{sub 1}{sup 0}, where {bar {chi}}{sub 1}{sup 0} is the lightest supersymmetric particle. The topology analyzed therefore consists of a pair of acoplanar heavy-flavor jets with missing transverse energy. The data show good agreement with the standard model expectation, and a 95% C.L. exclusion domain in the (m{sub {tilde t}}, m{sub {tilde {chi}}{sub 1}{sup 0}}) plane has been determined, exten…
Search for neutral Higgs bosons in the multi-b-jet topology in 5.2 fb−1 of pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV
2011
Data recorded by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider are analyzed to search for neutral Higgs bosons produced in association with b quarks. The search is performed in the three-b-quark channel using multijet-triggered events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2fb-1. In the absence of any significant excess above background, limits are set on the cross section multiplied by the branching ratio in the Higgs boson mass range 90 to 300 GeV, extending the excluded regions in the parameter space of the minimal supersymmetric standard model.
Search for scalar leptoquarks in the acoplanar jet topology in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV
2006
A search for leptoquarks has been performed in 310 pb{sup -1} of data from p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The topology analyzed consists of acoplanar jets with missing transverse energy. The data show good agreement with standard model expectations, and a lower mass limit of 136 GeV has been set at the 95% C.L. for a scalar leptoquark decaying exclusively into a quark and a neutrino.
Search for squark production in events with jets, hadronically decaying tau leptons and missing transverse energy at s=1.96 TeV
2009
A search for supersymmetric partners of quarks is performed in the topology of multijet events accompanied by at least one tau lepton decaying hadronically and large missing transverse energy. Approximately 1 fb(-1) of p (p) over bar collision data from the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV recorded by the D detector is analyzed. Results are combined with the previously published DO inclusive search for squarks and gluinos. No evidence of physics beyond the Standard Model is found and lower limits on the squark mass up to 410 GeV are derived in the framework of minimal supergravity with tan beta = 15, A(0) = -2m(0) and mu < 0, in the region where decays to ta…
Search for scalar leptoquarks and T-odd quarks in the acoplanar jet topology using of collision data at
2008
A search for new physics in the acoplanar jet topology has been performed in 2.5 fb(-1) of data from p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, recorded by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The numbers of events with exactly two acoplanar jets and missing transverse energy are in good agreement with the Standard Model expectations. The result of this search has been used to set a lower mass limit of 205 GeV at the 95% C.L. on the mass of a scalar leptoquark when this particle decays exclusively into a quark and a neutrino. In the framework of the Little Higgs model with T-parity, limits have also been obtained on the T-odd quark mass as a function of the T-odd photon m…
Charge asymmetries of top quarks at hadron colliders revisited
2011
A sizeable difference in the differential production cross section of top- compared to antitop-quark production, denoted charge asymmetry, has been observed at the Tevatron. The experimental results seem to exceed the theory predictions based on the Standard Model by a significant amount and have triggered a large number of suggestions for "new physics". In the present paper the Standard Model predictions for Tevatron and LHC experiments are revisited. This includes a reanalysis of electromagnetic as well as weak corrections, leading to a shift of the asymmetry by roughly a factor 1.1 when compared to the results of the first papers on this subject. The impact of cuts on the transverse mome…
Dijets at Tevatron Cannot Constrain SMEFT Four-Quark Operators
2019
We explore the sensitivity of Tevatron data to heavy new physics effects in differential dijet production rates using the SMEFT in light of the fact that consistent and conservative constraints from the LHC cannot cover relatively low cutoff scales in the EFT. In contrast to the results quoted by the experimental collaborations and other groups, we find that, once consistency of the perturbation expansion is enforced and reasonable estimates of theoretical errors induced by the SMEFT series in $\frac{E}{\Lambda}$ are included, there is no potential to constrain four-quark contact interactions using Tevatron data. This shows the general difficulty of constraining physics model-independently …
Measurements ofWγandZγproduction inppcollisions ats=7 TeVwith the ATLAS detector at the LHC
2013
The integrated and differential fiducial cross sections for the production of a W or Z boson in association with a high-energy photon are measured using pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV. The analyse ...
Measurement ofsin2θeffℓandZ-light quark couplings using the forward-backward charge asymmetry inpp¯→Z/γ*→e+e−events withL=5.0 fb−1ats=1.96 TeV
2011
We measure the mass dependence of the forward-backward charge asymmetry in 157,553 $p\bar{p} \rightarrow Z/\gamma^{*} \rightarrow e^+e^-$ interactions, corresponding to 5.0 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV. The effective weak mixing angle ($\sin^2\theta_{eff}^{lept}$) from this process involving predominantly the first generation of quarks is extracted as $\sin^2\theta_{eff}^{lept} = 0.2309 \pm 0.0008 ({stat.}) \pm 0.0006 ({syst.})$. We also present the most precise direct measurement of the vector and axial-vector couplings of $u$ and $d$ quarks to the $Z$ boson.
