Group-Analysis and Education in Psychological Academic Training

2012

The aim of the paper is to present an integrated model of training groups (from median to large group) which can afford an useful instrument in psychologist’s academic education, decreasing the distance between theory and practice inside the university programs. The model proposed integrates methodological knowledge and relational experience using median and large groups as real contexts for training. Qualitative research methods like textual analysis can demonstrate the validity and efficacy of a group-oriented professional education. Using T-LAB, researchers can find if the group-analytic way to think psychologist’s academic education demonstrates efficacy and is coherent with the theoret…

The sunset of Gortyn: amphorae in 7th –8th centuries AD

2014

Gortyn (A. Di Vita [ed.] 2000-01), some new contexts, more delimited and reliable, allow us to define better circulation, developments, and local use of amphorae in the last periods of urban life of the Cretan city. Two contexts of the mid-late 7th and late 7th-8th centuries are briefly analysed, coming from different quarters of the town (the Old Agora and the Early Byzantine houses near the “Praetorium”), and resulting from different formative processes, which could represent the circulation trends just before, and in the re-occupation phase after the earthquake that dismembered the Late Roman urban layout at the end of the 7th/early 8th century. They display a variety of imports from tra…

The analysis conducted on one of Leonardo Sciascia's three theatrical tex…

Marked Hawkes processes for Twitter data

2022

In this paper, we propose to model retweet event sequences using a marked Hawkes process, which is a self-exciting point process where the occurrence of previous events in time increases the probability of further events. The aim is to analyse Twitter data combining temporal point processes theory and textual analysis. Since each retweet event carries a set of properties, we mark the process by different characteristics drawn from the textual analysis, finding that the tone of the description of the Twitter user is a good predictor of the number of retweets in a single cascade.

Translators vs translatresses’ strategies: ethical and ideological challenges

2011

In the last few years there has been an increasing interest in the issue of gender in translation practice especially thanks to the work of feminist critics and translators who see the act of translating as an activity which involves making use not of speciously neutral, so-called objective strategies, but rather dynamic procedures and tactics which negotiate and are negotiable, open and contingent, and which never assume feminine subjectivity to be an absolute and stable category. Drawing on such premises, this work will focus on the interrelation between identity, textuality and translation in an attempt to explore the idea that gender representation in translation practice may be shaped …

Analyzing Online Social Support Networks. The Case of Italian Time Banks on Facebook

2019

With the advent of the Internet, social support has changed in nature and size, and new forms of social help have emerged, that reshaped the meaning of this concept. In the last years, social support has been mainly investigated within the theoretical framework of relational sociology, using network analysis techniques (Crossley, 2011; Donati, 2011; Mische, 2011; Tronca, 2013). An interesting expression of social support networks and civic engagement is the phenomenon of time banks that has had a broad diffusion in the mid-1990s, after important changes in postindustrial society. These organizations are now trying to exploit the potential of the Internet and social networking sites as a mea…
