2017
The contribution is a brief introduction to the workshop “Ifigenia in Aulide di Euripide. Testo, Interpretazione, Drammaturgia, ieri e oggi”, held in Palermo on April 7, 2016, whose intent is here motivated. The meeting pivoted on the idea that a tragedy as IA, burdened with serious textual problems – as evidenced by the latest editions by James Diggle (OCT) and David Kovacs (Loeb) –, may be a good basis for a methodological reassessment, within which textual criticism may interact with interpretative problems and dramaturgical performances, concerning either the time when theatrical representations were performed and their numerous rewritings. The paper also briefly summarizes the content …

2020
Summary A first draft of the Parte speciale of Chiazzese’s Confronti Testuali, projected as complement of the Parte generale published in 1933, was known for quite some time, but was only recently published by Falcone. Although this is an important transcription work of the manuscript, the reconstruction provided about the historical background – partially based on two different versions of an anecdote – should be read taking into account some clarifications.
Materiality and compositorial errors of a poetical incunabulum: the contribution of textual criticism
2019
The material analysis of the witnesses of a literary work is part of the phase of recension in a process of textual criticism, which…
2018
This paper analyses from a material and textual viewpoint the four preserved manuscripts containing the Doctrina moral , a work written in the first half of the 15th century by a man from Majorca from the Pacs family. The study of these copies gives us new information about some of the most controversial aspects of this work, such as authorship and date. The two witnesses owned by the Bibliotheque Nationale de France are related to the Italian city of Naples, while the manuscript of the Biblioteca de Catalunya could have been in possession of a branch of the Pacs family, the Conilleres. The codex of the Arxiu de la Corona d’Arago, edited by Bofarull (1857), presents a more innovative copy, …
