Novel view synthesis for projective texture mapping on real 3D objects
2006
Industrial reproduction, as stereography or lithography, have a lack in texture information, as they only deal with 3D reconstruction. In this paper, we provide a new technique to map texture on real 3D objects, by synthesizing a novel view from two camera images to a projector frame, considered as a camera acting in reverse. No prior information on the pose or the shape of the 3D object is necessary, however hard calibration of the complete system is needed.
HD-RTI: an adaptive multi-light imaging approach for the quality assessment of manufactured surfaces
2021
International audience; Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) is a technique for estimating surface local angular reflectance from a set of stereo-photometric images captured with variable lighting directions. The digitization of this information fully fits into the industry 4.0 approach and makes it possible to characterize the visual properties of a surface. The proposed method, namely HD-RTI, is based on the coupling of RTI and HDR imaging techniques. This coupling is carried out adaptively according to the response at each angle of illumination. The proposed method is applied to five industrial samples which have high local variations of reflectivity because of their heterogeneity of…
Integration of multiple range and intensity image pairs using a volumetric method to create textured three-dimensional models
2001
We present a volumetric approach to three-dimensional (3D) object modeling that differs from previous techniques in that both object texture and geometry are considered in the reconstruc- tion process. The motivation for the research is the simulation of a thermal tire inspection station. Integrating 3D geometry information with two-dimensional thermal images permits the thermal informa- tion to be displayed as a texture map on the tire structure, enhanc- ing analysis capabilities. Additionally, constructing the tire geometry during the inspection process allows the tire to be examined for structural defects that might be missed if the thermal data were textured onto a predefined model. HIGH QUALITY TEXTURE MAPPING PROCESS AIMED AT THE OPTIMIZATION OF 3D STRUCTURED LIGHT MODELS
2019
Abstract. This article presents the evaluation of a pipeline to develop a high-quality texture mapping implementation which makes it possible to carry out a semantic high-quality 3D textured model. Due to geometric errors such as camera parameters or limited image resolution or varying environmental parameters, the calculation of a surface texture from 2D images could present several color errors. And, sometimes, it needs adjustments to the RGB or lightness information on a defined part of the texture. The texture mapping procedure is composed of mesh parameterization, mesh partitioning, mesh segmentation unwraps, UV map and projection of island, UV layout optimization, mesh packing and mes…
