This article analyses Margarethe von Trotta’s film Hannah Arendt: The Woman Who Saw Banality in Evil through its protagonist’s own writings on visual culture, visibility and invisibility in the context of political thinking. We start by clarifying Arendt’s understanding of political theory as an activity aiming to provoke thinking. We then discuss systematically the visual language of the film and offer a typology of its representations of political thinking, subdivided into a part on internalisation and one on externalisation (dialogue). <p>The plays <em>Harlem duet </em>(1997) by African Canadian playwright Djanet Sears and <em>Desdemona </em>(2012) by Toni Morrison signify upon European texts aiming to carve out a new definition of what it means to be black in North America. International audience; Preserving the cultural heritage of the performing arts raises difficult and sensitive issues, as each performance is unique by nature and the juxtaposition between the performers and the audience cannot be easily recorded. In this paper, we report on an experimental research project to preserve another aspect of the performing arts—the history of their rehearsals. Klasikas iestudējumi Oļģerta Krodera režijā: teksts un tā interpretācija

Promocijas darbā pētīta teksta nozīme iestudējuma koncepcijas īstenošanā, balstoties uz režisora Oļģerta Krodera iestudētajiem literatūras klasikas darbiem. O. Krodera radošā darbība analizēta hronoloģiski secīgos četros periodos, kurus lielā mērānosaka katrā periodā iestudētā V. Šekspīra traģēdija „Hamlets”. Kopumā analizēti 12 iestudējumi, fiksējot laikmeta refleksijas katra iestudējuma vēstījumā un pieņemot „Hamletu” kā atskaites punktu. Teksts pētījumā analizēts no hermeneitikas pozīcijām kā lingvistiski izteikts vēstī jums. Vienlaikus ņemts vērā jēdziena „teksts” kulturoloģiskais aspekts, kas iestudējuma vēstījuma atklāsmē par vienlīdz svarīgiem atzīst visus estētikas objektus. Pētījum…
