L'apport de la communication engageante et des représentations sociales dans le cadre de la promotion de l'éco-mobilité
2011
The purpose of this thesis was to test the applicability of binding communication in the case of car use reduction. The first two studies (1 & 2) bring out the relationship between an individual and his mobility. Our results lead us to consider a system of double bind between the challenges of sustainable development and daily obligations. The individual recognizes the negative impact of car use on the environment but justifies his behavior by an important need for flexibility. Three studies have tested the effectiveness of procedures such as commitment (Study 3) and binding communication (studies 4 and 5). A procedure of binding communication has been particularly effective. It combined a …
Social psychological aspects of ACL injury prevention and rehabilitation: An integrated model for behavioral adherence
2017
Managing rehabilitation for ACL injury is dependent on uptake of, and compliance with, medical and safety recommendations. In this paper, we propose a multi-theory model that integrates self-determination theory and the theory of planned behavior to identify the motivational determinants ACL injury prevention and management behaviors and the processes involved. nonPeerReviewed
Drivers’ experiences during floods: Investigating the psychological influences underpinning decisions to avoid driving through floodwater
2018
Abstract A major risk factor for many flood-related drownings is driving through floodwater. We aimed to understand Australian drivers’ experiences and beliefs with respect to avoid driving through floodwater using the theory of planned behaviour as a framework. Study 1 (N = 23) used a qualitative design to gain an in-depth understanding of individuals’ experiences with driving through floodwater. Study 2 (N = 157) used a survey-based design to identify the factors related to this behaviour including knowledge, beliefs, and social-cognitive factors. In Study 1, drivers identified a range of advantages (e.g., didn’t damage car), disadvantages (e.g., inconvenient, but not so terrible), barrie…
Applying the integrated trans-contextual model to mathematics activities in the classroom and homework behavior and attainment
2016
The aim of the present study was to test hypotheses of the trans-contextual model. We predicted relations between perceived autonomy support, autonomous motivation toward mathematics learning activities in an educational context, autonomous motivation toward mathematics homework in an out-of-school context, social-cognitive variables and intentions for future engagement in mathematics homework, and mathematics homework outcomes. Secondary school students completed measures of perceived autonomy support from teachers and autonomous motivation for in-class mathematics activities; measures of autonomous motivation, social-cognitive variables, and intentions for out-of-school mathematics homewo…
Psychological processes of ACL-patients' post-surgery rehabilitation : A prospective test of an integrated theoretical model
2020
Objectives: The aim of this prospective study was to examine the utility of an integrated model comprising constructs from self-determination theory (SDT) and the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in predicting adherence to a post-surgery rehabilitation program in patients receiving anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Constructs of the integrated model measured at baseline were expected to predict patients' rehabilitation adherence two months later. Method: Patients (N = 121, M age = 27.62, range = 18–53; 36.66% female) scheduled to have ACL reconstruction surgery within two months were recruited from a Hong Kong public hospital. At baseline and two-month follow-up, patients com…
