Reconstructing the phylogeny of large groups of large divergent genomes remains a difficult problem to solve, whatever the methods considered. Methods based on distance matrices are blocked due to the calculation of these matrices that is impossible in practice, when Bayesian inference or maximum likelihood methods presuppose multiple alignment of the genomes, which is itself difficult to achieve if precision is required. AbstractNervous systems allocate computational resources to match stimulus statistics. However, the physical information that needs to be processed depends on the animal’s own behavior. For example, visual motion patterns induced by self-motion provide essential information for navigation. How behavioral constraints affect neural processing is not known. We wanted to evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary program based on healthy eating, exercise, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and health education to achieve weight loss and improve metabolic parameters in overweight and obese children. Abstract This paper examines the relationship between health endowment and later-life outcomes in the labour market. The analysis is based on reduced-form models in which labour market outcomes are regressed on genetic variants related to the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. We use linked Finnish data that have many strengths. Genetic risk scores constitute exogenous measures for health endowment, and accurate administrative tax records on earnings, employment and social income transfers provide a comprehensive account of an individual’s long-term performance in the labour market. ABSTRACTThe shortened version of the Polymorphous Prejudice Scale (PPS) analyzes new manifestations of prejudice toward gay men and lesbian women. Specifically, this instrument consists of 16 items distributed in four subscales: values gay progress, positive beliefs about gay men, positive beliefs about lesbian women, and resistance to heteronormative expectations.
