Morphology and thermal behavior of dicyanate ester-polyetherimide semi-IPNS cured at different conditions

A high-temperature thermosetting bisphenol-A dicyanate, BADCy was modified with polyetherimide, PEI, at various compositions. Phase separation and rheokinetics through curing were studied by optical microscopy, dynamic and isothermal differential scanning calorimetry, and rheological measurements. The PEI phase separated at the early stages of curing, well before gelation, and did not affect the polycyclotrimerization kinetics. The phase structure and thermal properties of the final network were investigated as a function of the PEI content and cure temperature. Abstract Hyperbranched polyphosphoesters are promising multifunctional flame retardants for epoxy resins. These polymers were prepared via thiol-ene polyaddition reactions. While key chemical transformations and modes of actions were elucidated, the role of sulfur in the chemical composition remains an open question. In this study, the FR-performance of a series of phosphorus-based flame retardant additives with and without sulfur (thio-ethers or sulfones) in their structure are compared. In this paper we present the synthesis and the characterization of cyclophosphazenes substituted with allyl groups, their transformation in epoxide-containing cyclophosphazenes and the final utilization of these compounds as chain extenders in combination with polyamides. The reaction at high temperature of Nylon-6 with epoxy-functionalized cyclophosphazenes leads to the opening of the epoxy units by the action of both amino (--NH2) and carboxylic (--COOH) end-groups of the polymer to enhance the final molecular weight of this material. Abstract 5′-d(CCTATAGATATCC) has been reacted with BPDE and the adducts derived from binding of BPDE to the exocyclic amino group of deoxyguanosine (dG) were studied with spectroscopic methods. The major dG-adducts of (+)- and (-)-anti-BPDE and a minor adduct of (+)-syn-BPDE showed the characteristics of trans-adducts. The major products formed with (+)- and (-)-syn-BPDE exhibit cis-adduct characteristics. Annealing of BPDE-modified oligonucleotides to complementary or partially complementary strands results in reduced fluorescence intensity in several cases and in others the intensity is markedly increased. Recycling of compatibilized and uncompatibilized nylon/polypropylene blends

The recycling of compatibilized and uncompatibilized nylon6/polypropylene blends has been carried out by repetitive extrusions. The change of the properties of the blends is a function not only of the number of reprocessing steps but also of the type of compatibilizer. The worsening of the mechanical properties is small and, indeed, some improvement can be observed after one or two extrusion steps for some blends. It is hypothesised that the decrease of the molecular weight, the typical effect occurring during this thermomechanical treatment, is counterbalanced and overcome by the possible formation of new copolymers that act as bridges between the two phases. This work deals the effect of acetylated and non-acetylated sisal fiber 011 thermal degradation of polypropylene. Applying the R-G method at constant conversion levels of 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9 to thermograms of the ”PP/untreated sisal fiber” blend, E, values of 99, 213, 224, 187, and 145 kJ/mol were obtained, whereas they were 99, 299, 255, 205, 154 kJ/mol for the “PP/treated sisal fiber” blend. The effect of incorporation of octakis({alkyl}dimethylsiloxy)octasilsesquioxanes molecules with n-octyl, n-octadecyl and 4-methyl-hexyl substituents on thermal properties of polypropylene (PP), low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) was investigated. An approach on improvement of the properties of polypropylene / carbon nanotube (PP/CNT) composites is reported. PP blend compositions with carboxylic acid functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) at filler content 1.0 wt.% were researched. Titania-modified silicas with different weight% of TiO2 were prepared by sol-gel method and used as supports for Pd (1 wt%) catalysts. The obtained materials were tested in the oxidation of methane under lean conditions in absence and in presence of SO2. Test reactions were consecutively performed in order to evaluate the thermal stability and poisoning reversibility. Increasing amounts of TiO2 improved the catalytic activity, with an optimum of the performance for 10 wt% TiO2 loading. Abstract Co 3 O 4 /CeO 2 composite oxides with different cobalt loading (5, 15, 30, 50, 70 wt.% as Co 3 O 4 ) were prepared by co-precipitation method and investigated for the oxidation of methane under stoichiometric conditions. Pure oxides, Co 3 O 4 and CeO 2 were used as reference. Characterization studies by X-ray diffraction (XRD), BET, temperature programmed reduction/oxidation (TPR/TPO) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were carried out.
