Palladium-catalyzed formation and reactions of iodo- and bromosiloxane intermediates

Polysiloxanes are useful materials because of their functionality, such as high thermal stability, electrical resistance, and hydrophobicity. In this regard, we studied palladium-catalyzed formation of iodo-and bromopolysiloxanes from two types of hydrosiloxanes, alpha,omega-dihydropoly(dimethylsiloxane) (1) and cyclotetra(hydromethylsiloxane) (2), and their reactions. An investigation of thermal behaviour of brake disk pad assembly with Ansys

Abstract The brake disk is a key part of the braking mechanism, the task of it is to slow or stop the vehicle's wheels, on the one side, while the heat produced during the process is dissipated. In this regard, the brake pads are pressed by mechanical strength on the surface of the brake disks. This study aims to develop a model of a disk brake by use of CATIA V5, on the model, finite element analysis (FEA) done by ANSYS 19 then compare it to the findings gained by the original tests. This work provides an evaluation of the discrete anisotropy radiative transfer (DART) three-dimensional (3D) model in assessing the simulation of directional brightness temperatures (Tb) at both sensor and surface levels. Satellite imagery acquired with the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER), airborne imagery acquired with the Airborne Hyperspectral Scanner (AHS) sensor and ground-based measurements collected over an agricultural area were used to evaluate the DART model at nadir views. Halogen diffusion in a basaltic melt

Abstract The diffusion of the halogens fluorine, chlorine and bromine was measured in a hawaiitic melt from Mt. Etna at 500 MPa and 1.0 GPa, 1250 to 1450 °C at anhydrous conditions; the diffusion of F and Cl in the melt was also studied with about 3 wt% of dissolved water. Experiments were performed using the diffusion-couple technique in a piston cylinder. Empirical molecular dynamics study of structural, elastic and thermodynamic properties of zinc-blende-like SiGe compound

Abstract A three-body potential coupled with a molecular-dynamics method is used to calculate structural and thermodynamic properties of the hypothetical IV–IV compound SiGe in zinc-blende phase. A good agreement between the calculated and theoretical values of the lattice constant, the bulk modulus and its derivative, and the cohesive energy is obtained. We also compute the elastic constants, Debye temperature, lattice thermal expansion, and the specific heat. We investigate also, the structural properties of SiGe when rock-salt phase appears.

Poggetti Vecchi (Tuscany, Italy): A late Middle Pleistocene case of human-elephant interaction

Abstract A paleosurface with a concentration of wooden-, bone-, and stone-tools interspersed among an accumulation of fossil bones, largely belonging to the straight-tusked elephant Palaeoloxodon antiquus, was found at the bottom of a pool, fed by hot springs, that was excavated at Poggetti Vecchi, near Grosseto (Tuscany, Italy). The site is radiometrically dated to the late Middle Pleistocene, around 171,000 years BP. Notable is the association of the artifacts with the elephant bones, and in particular the presence of digging sticks made from boxwood (Buxus sp.). [EN] In this paper we prove the existence of strong solutions for the stationary Benard-Marangoni problem in a finite domain flat on the top, bifurcating from the basic heat conductive state. The Benard-Marangoni problem is a physical phenomenon of thermal convection in which the effects of buoyancy and surface tension are taken into account.
