On the equation of state for thermal polymer solutions and melts with attractive interaction

We perform Monte Carlo simulations of a lattice model for polymer melts, i. e., the bond fluctuation model in three dimensions. By using an energy parameter that prefers relatively long bonds, the model exhibits a glass transition at low temperatures, in close qualitative similarity to experiment. We modify this model by adding an attractive interaction of variable strength. We demonstrate that a small interaction strength has only a very small effect on the static properties of the melt. Properties and Structural Studies of Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes-Phosphate Ester Hybrids

Long chain phosphate esters bearing at least one or two aryl groups have been synthesized and used for the preparation of stable multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) hybrids. The non-covalent interaction ester/MWCNT has been investigated by several techniques (SEM, UV-vis, 31P-NMR, RAMAN). The used phosphate ester derivatives demonstrated the ability to produce an excellent dispersion of MWCNT in CHCl3. The obtained dispersions showed a great stability from one to at least three weeks in the range of concentration considered. Thermal analysis showed an increase in the decomposition temperature for the hybrids with respect to pristine MWCNT.

Accurate estimation of physical quantities depends on the availability of High Resolution (HR) observations of the Earth surface. However, due to the unavoidable tradeoff between spatial and time resolution, the acquisition instants of HR data hardly coincides with those required by the estimation algorithms. Valencian handball consists in hitting the ball with the hands and it may contribute to injury development on the hands. This study aimed to analyze skin temperature asymmetries and recovery after a cold stress test (CST) in professional players of Valencian handball before and after a competition. Thirteen professional athletes and a control group of ten physically active participants were measured. Thermal analysis as a quality tool for assessing the influence of thermo-mechanical degradation on recycled poly(ethylene terephthalate)

Mechanical recycling of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) was simulated by multiple processing to assess the effects of thermo-mechanical degradation, and characterized using rheological and thermal analysis techniques. Thermo-mechanical degradation under repeated extrusion induces chain scission reactions in PET, which result in a dramatic loss in the deformation capabilities and an increase in the fluidity of the polymer under reprocessing, reducing its recycling possibilities after four extrusion cycles. A series of Ni(II) complexes with the general formula [2-((NEt2)Me)-8-{N(Ar)}C9H8N]NiCl2, where Ar = 2,6-Me2C6H3 in Ni1, 2,6-Et2C6H3 in Ni2, 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3 in Ni3, 2,4,6-Me3C6H2 in Ni4, 2,6-Et2-4-MeC6H2 in Ni5, and 2,4,6-t-Bu3C6H2 in Ni6, has been prepared using a one-pot reaction of 2-(N,N-diethylaminomethyl)-6,7-dihydroquinolin-8(5H)-one with the corresponding aniline and nickel dichloride hexahydrate. A U-Pb zircon date of ~113 Ma revealed that a variety of jadeitites and related omphacitite, chloritite and albite-rich rocks from the subduction-related Sierra del Convento block-in-serpentinite-matrix mélange (eastern Cuba) formed nearly synchronously with MORB metabasite-derived anatectic trondhjemitic liquids at high-temperature and pressure in a hot subduction environment. Field, petrologic and geochemical data indicate hydrothermal/metasomatic processes triggered by juvenile fluids likely evolved from the crystallizing hydrous trondhjemitic melts. Abstract Based on a recent technical–economical analysis on the island of Pantelleria, a policy feasibility study for a complete upgrading of the energy system of this Mediterranean Island is carried out. Abstract The characterisation of rare earth elements carbonates (REECs) was performed by thermal analysis (TG–DTG) combined with simultaneous infrared evolved gas analysis–Fourier transform infrared (EGA–FTIR) spectroscopy.
