El deterioro de los alimentos causado por los hongos que producen micotoxinas representa un problema importante en seguridad alimentaria. Los cereales en grano y sus productos derivados, como el pan, frecuentemente están contaminados con hongos micotoxigénicos. Es por ello que en la presente Tesis Doctoral se han estudiado la presencia de 17 micotoxinas en 80 muestras de pan de molde y el riesgo de exposición de la población a estos compuestos. Aflatoxinas (AFs), zearalenona (ZEA) y eniatinas (ENs) han sido detectadas respectivamente en el 20%, 65% y 96% de las muestras de pan analizadas. Synthesis of isomorphous cobalt and nickel thiocyanate coordination compounds: Effect of metals on compound properties

The reaction of 2-methylpiperazine with the thiocyanate ligand and two transition metals leads to the production of two new isomorphous [ML2SCN4] where L is the 2-methylpiperazine and [M =Co (1), and Ni (2)], presenting an octahedral configuration. These compounds were characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, TG-DTA analysis, as well as infrared and UV-Vis spectroscopy and TG-DTA. The magnetic and antibacterial properties were also determined. Through the link with N-H···S hydrogen bonds, a global 3D network was established. Diabetes, apart from generalized neuropathy and microangiopathy, involves tissue hypoxia, which may drive chronic proinflammatory state. However, studies on the ventilatory control in diabetes are sparse and conflicting. In this study we examined the function and morphology of diabetic carotid bodies (CBs). Diabetes was evoked in Wistar rats with streptozotocin (70 mg/kg, i.p.). The acute hypoxic ventilatory responses (HVR) to 12 and 8 % O(2) were investigated in conscious untreated rats after 2 and 4 weeks in a plethysmographic chamber. Recent studies have established the clinical efficacy of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) in the treatment of cholestasis associated with hepatic diseases, pregnancy and the administration of estrogen-containing oral contraceptives. In 4 clinical trials involving a total of 639 patients with cholestasis due to acute or chronic liver disease, SAMe in an intravenous dose of 800 mg/day or an oral regimen of 1.6 g/day for 2 weeks was superior to placebo in relieving the symptom of pruritus and in restoring serum total bilirubin and serum alkaline phosphatase towards normal.
