This article brings together two concepts, ‘phantom fat’ and ‘liminal fat’, which both aim to grasp how fat in contemporary culture becomes a kind of material immateriality, corporeality in suspension. Comparing the spheres of representation and experience, we examine the challenges and usefulness of these concepts, and feminist fat studies perspectives more broadly, to feminist scholarship on the body. This study consists of five international articles and an introductory background review. Its focus is on the nature and structure of teachers' pedagogical knowing. Pedagogical knowing is characterized as an active process by which teachers perform their duties in situations involving intense social interactions. This study treats teachers' pedagogical knowing as a broad theoretical concept and as an extended practice. Patterns of teachers' narratives are analysed as reflecting the general nature of this type of knowing. The theoretical background consists of three concepts. Vähäinen fyysinen aktiivisuus lisää tyyppi 2 diabeteksen esiintyvyyttä ja mikä tahansa fyysinen aktiivisuus ehkäisee diabeteksen syntyä. Tarkoituksena oli selvittää aiemmin tunnistamattomien tyypin 2 diabeetikoiden, henkilöiden, joilla oli kohonneet glukoosiarvot ja normaalien verrokkien vapaa-ajan liikunta-aktiivisuuden ja tietämyksen tyyppi 2 riskitekijöistä muutokset viiden vuoden seurantatutkimuksessa. Tämän lisäksi tarkoituksena oli selvittää, ovatko tietämyksen muutokset yhteydessä muutoksiin vapaa-ajan liikunnassa.
