Barbed Dental Ti6Al4V Alloy Screw : Design and Bench Testing
2023
Background context. Dental implants are designed to replace a missing tooth. Implant stability is vital to achieving osseointegration and successful implantation. Although there are many implants available on the market, there is room for improvement. Purpose. We describe a new dental implant with improved primary stability features. Study design. Lab bench test studies. Methods. We evaluated the new implant using static and flexion–compression fatigue tests with compression loads, 35 Ncm tightening torque, displacement control, 0.01 mm/s actuator movement speed, and 9–10 Hz load application frequency, obtaining a cyclic load diagram. We applied variable cyclic loadings of prede…

Dual phase titanium alloy hot forging process design: experiments and numerical modeling
2015
Titanium alloys are considered desirable materials when both good mechanical properties and weight reduction are required at the same time. This class of materials is widely used in those fields (aeronautics, aerospace) in which common steels and light-weight materials, e.g., aluminum alloys, are not able to satisfy all operative service conditions. During the last decade, forging of titanium alloys has attracted greater attention from both industrial and scientific/academic researchers because of their potential in providing a near net shaped part with minimal need for machining. In this paper, a numerical model of the forging sequences for a Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy aerospace component is…
Effect of hydrogen on the ethylene polymerization process over Ziegler–Natta catalysts supported on MgCl2(THF)2. I. Studies of the chain‐transfer rea…
2001
The effect of hydrogen on the molecular weight of polyethylene obtained over vanadium catalysts (based on VCl4 and VOCl3) supported on MgCl2(THF)2 was studied and the results were compared to those obtained for similar titanium catalysts. It was confirmed that the dependencies of the transfer reaction on the hydrogen concentration are a half‐order in all investigated systems. However, the transition metal of the catalytic site affects the ratio of the transfer rate with hydrogen to the propagation rate (ktr,H/kp) and the results showed that hydrogen is a more effective agent of polyethylene molecular weight control in vanadium‐based systems as compared to the titanium catalyst.

A New Synthetic Method and Solution Equilibria for the Chlorotitanate( IV ) Anions − Evidence for the Existence of a New Species: [Ti 2 Cl 11 ] 3−
2004
TiCl3 is oxidized by SOCl2 in the presence of the appropriate amount of [NEt3Bz]Cl or [PPN]Cl [Bz = benzyl; PPN = bis(triphenylphosphanyl)iminium] to afford the corresponding salts of [Ti2Cl9]−, [Ti2Cl10]2− or [TiCl6]2−. The results of cyclic voltammetric and solution IR studies in the Ti−Cl stretching region are interpreted in terms of a rapid chloride-redistribution equilibrium between [Ti2Cl10]2− on one side and a mixture of [Ti2Cl9]− and a previously unreported [Ti2Cl11]3− species on the other side. In the solid state, however, a compound with the [PPN]3[Ti2Cl11] stoichiometry exists as a mixture of [PPN]2[Ti2Cl10] and [PPN]2[TiCl6]. The PPN salt of [Ti2Cl9]− has been structurally chara…
Photocatalytic oxidation of aromatic alcohols to aldehydes in aqueous suspension of home prepared titanium dioxide
2008
In this paper some intrinsic electronic properties of home prepared (HP) TiO2 catalysts were investigated by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and quasi-Fermi level measurements. These powders were used for carrying out the photocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde and CO2 in water; the selectivity for aldehyde formation was enhanced by the addition of small amounts of ethanol, a typical hole trap. The values of band gap, valence band and conduction band edges are almost identical for all the HP samples in which anatase phase is predominant, whereas appreciable differences can be noticed for an HP sample containing high amount of rutile phase. A comparative ATR-FTIR study of…
N-Glycosylamines of 4,6-O-ethylidene-alpha-D-glucopyranose: synthesis, characterisation and structure of CO2H, Cl and F ortho-substituted phenyl deri…
2000
A saccharide based ligand suitable for metal binding (HLCOOH) has been synthesized using 4,6-O-ethylidene-alpha-D-glucopyranose (4,6-O-EGP) and anthranilic acid. A few analogous glycosylamines with chloro and fluoro ortho substitutions have also been synthesized and characterised. Complexes of HLCOOH with Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ have been isolated and characterised fully. The crystal structures of 4,6-O-EGP, the chloro analogue of HLCOOH and the K+ complex of L-COOH are established. The anomeric nature, orientation of the binding core and the co-ordination aspects of K+ have been derived from these structures.
Novel diamine-bis(phenolate) Ti(IV) complexes – tuning the complex structure to control catalytic properties in α-olefin polymerization
2016
Abstract Four monomeric titanium(IV) dichloride complexes of amine-bis(phenolate) ligands having an extra donor arm (2a–2d) and one oxo-bridged complex 3 were successfully synthesized in the reaction of TiCl4 with a sodium salt of the appropriate ligand, and they were characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The ligands had either a dimethylamino side‐arm donor and t-Bu substituents on both (1a) and one (1d) phenolate rings or a diisopropylamino side-arm donor and t-Bu (1b) and t-Bu along with OMe (1c) phenolate substituents. All complexes upon activation with [Ph3CB(C6F5)4] and MAO were used to catalyze polymerization of 1-octene (in liquid monomer) into poly(1-octene). Their activities as we…
