Experimental characterization of a proton exchange membrane fuel-cell for hybrid electric pedal assisted cycles

This paper presents a feasibility study on the prototyping of a hybrid EPAC (Electric Pedal Assisted Cycle) Through an FC-B-UC (Fuel Cell - Battery - Ultra-Capacitors) power system. Aim of this work is the characterization of a PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) in order to confirm its theoretical performances and to verify the possibility of its installation on an e-bike.

In modern high-power electrical drives, the efficiency of the system is a crucial constraint. Moreover, the efficiency of power converters plays a fundamental role in modern applications requiring also a limited weight, such as the electric vehicles and novel more electric aircraft. A dq axis theory of the magnetic, thermal, and mechanical properties of Curie motor

2011

A dq axis theory of a thermomagnetic Curie motor is presented. This theory allows one to estimate the performances of a Curie motor from its geometrical, magnetic, and thermal properties. The proposed approach shows that the thermomagnetic Curie motor is equivalent from a magnetic point of view to a dc electric machine. The physical meaning of the parameters used in the dq theory of Curie motor is explicated. The theory is validated by using experimental data.

D-Q axis theory of thermomagnetic Curie motor

2010

This paper presents a the d-q axis theory of a thermomagnetic Curie motor. From this theory a maximization procedure of the performances of Curie motor has been developed. The proposed approach has shown that the thermomagnetic Curie motor is equivalent from a magnetic point of view to a d.c. electric machine. Consequently, a design of a Curie motor has been proposed and the calculated performances show a significant improvement in comparison to the performances reported in literature.

The full electric aircraft concept requires accurate design and suitable choice and integration of all the used components. Obviously, the electric propulsion drive is one of the most important on-board equipment. Both power converters and electric motors must have low weight, suitable overload capacity and high reliability. A model of a linear synchronous motor based on distribution theory

The fundamental idea of this paper is to use the distribution theory to analyze linear machines in order to include in the mathematical model both ideal and non ideal features. This paper shows how distribution theory can be used to establish a mathematical model able to describe both the ordinary working condition of a Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) as well the role of the unavoidable irregularities and non ideal features.

A software for the evaluation of winding factor harmonic distribution in high efficiency electrical motors and generators

In this paper a software developed for the determination of winding connections, the calculation of winding factors and the evaluation of their harmonic distribution of three and two phase windings is presented by using as input data simply the number of slots, pole pairs and phases. The software is implemented as a function in MATLAB environment. By means of some examples, covering the most relevant winding types, the capabilities of this software will be shown. Performance Comparison of Electrical Motors equipped with slightly Asymmetrical Windings

This paper presents a comparison between the performances of electrical machines equipped with slightly asymmetrical windings. More in detail, by modifying the stator geometry of an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine equipped with a symmetrical winding configuration, other two slightly asymmetrical winding topologies are obtained. Switching Capacitors Transformerless Bidirectional DC-DC Converter

This paper presents an innovative converter topology that better connects the needs of the battery pack and the electric motor towards the validation of an eco-sustainable electric mobility model. More in particular, the components of the proposed converter change their connection state during both the charging and discharging time of the battery, leading to a higher performance with respect to traditional step-down or step-up converters. The simulations carried out by means of the PLECS® environment have demonstrated the early feasibility of the proposed system.
