Targeting the tumor mutanome for personalized vaccination therapy

Next generation sequencing enables identification of immunogenic tumor mutations targetable by individualized vaccines. In the B16F10 melanoma system as pre-clinical proof-of-concept model, we found a total of 563 non-synonymous expressed somatic mutations. Of the mutations we tested, one third were immunogenic. Immunization conferred in vivo tumor control, qualifying mutated epitopes as source for effective vaccines.

Koulutus- ja kehittämisintervention vaikutus polvinivelrikkopotilaiden lähetteiden sisältöön ja hoitolinjapäätöksiin erikoissairaanhoidossa

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää koulutus- ja kehittämisintervention vaikutusta erikoissairaanhoidon ortopedian poliklinikalle ohjautuneiden polvinivelrikkopotilaiden lähetteiden sisältöön, strukturoidun lähetteen käyttöastetta sekä koulutusintervention ja strukturoidun lähetteen vaikutusta lähetteistä seuranneisiin hoitolinjapäätöksiin. Tutkimusaineisto koostui vuosina 2007 (n=250) ja 2009 (n=237) ortopedian poliklinikalle saapuneista peräkkäisistä lähetteistä. Tehtävänsiirto voi olla tulevaisuudessa tärkeä keino kohdistaa terveydenhuollon voimavaroja uudella tavalla. Fysioterapeuttien tehtävänkuvia on viime vuosina laajennettu erityisesti tuki- ja liikuntaelinsairaiden (TULE) potilaiden hoidossa ja toiminnan uudistamisella on saatu sekä hoidon kannalta että kustannusvaikutuksiltaan hyviä tuloksia. Tämän pro gradu-tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää polvioireisten konservatiivisen hoidon vaikutuksia vuoden seurannassa fysioterapeutille tehdyssä tehtävänsiirrossa. For many applications and ecological studies in which wild individuals are brought to laboratory it would be essential to know accurately how fast novel diet is reflected in composition of different tissues. To study the effects of two different diets on the stable isotope composition of freshwater crayfish muscle and hemolymph, we conducted a three month experiment on noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) and signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) by feeding them sweet corn (Zea mays) or Baltic herring (Clupea harengus membras) as novel food. In many applications entanglement must be distributed through noisy communication channels that unavoidably degrade it. Entanglement cannot be generated by local operations and classical communication (LOCC), implying that once it has been distributed it is not possible to recreate it by LOCC. Self-Organising Feature Map (SOFM) neural models and the Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) algorithm were used to produce a classifier identifying the quality classes of compost, according to the degree of its maturation within a period of time recorded in digital images. Digital images of compost at different stages of maturation were taken in a laboratory.
