Helsinki ajautui vakavaan asuntokriisiin vuoden 1944 lopulla. Vähävaraiset perheelliset rintamasotilaat olivat suurin asuntoa tarvitseva ryhmä. Nitrate is a natural constituent of the human diet and an approved food additive. It can be partially converted to nitrogen monoxide, which induces vasodilation and thereby decreases blood pressure. This effect is associated with a reduced risk regarding cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, and stroke. Moreover, dietary nitrate has been associated with beneficial effects in patients with gastric ulcer, renal failure, or metabolic syndrome. Recent studies indicate that such beneficial health effects due to dietary nitrate may be achievable at intake levels resulting from the daily consumption of nitrate-rich vegetables. El objetivo de nuestro trabajo es el estudio de dos de las necrópolis de época imperial de la ciudad de Valencia: las de La Boatella y la calle San Vicente Mártir. Ambas se encuentran separadas por apenas medio kilómetro de distancia, pero nunca antes se había llevado a cabo un estudio sistemático de ellas. La de La Boatella fue la primera identificada en la ciudad y es hasta la fecha la más extensa. Strontium isotopes in biogenic apatite, especially enamel, are widely employed to determine provenance and track migration in palaeontology and archaeology. Body tissues record the 87Sr/86Sr of bioavailable Sr of ingested food and water. To identify non-local individuals, knowledge of the 87Sr/86Sr of a non-migratory population is required. Fondata alla fine del V sec. a.C. dai Cartaginesi, Thermae Himeraeae divenne colonia romana alla fine del I sec. a.C. e fu dotata degli edifici tipici di una città romana: foro, anfiteatro, acquedotto e bagni. Questi ultimi furono costruiti ai piedi della collina su cui sorge la città, sfruttando due sorgenti termali. In this article, we propose a framework of principles and criteria for just transitions in food systems. Climate mitigation activities are urgently needed in food systems, but can have damaging social, environmental, economic, and health impacts. Consequently, food system transitions can cause significant side effects across and beyond food systems, aggravating existing inequalities and unsustainabilities, causing new ones, or hampering equal engagement in the transition itself. Thus, justice questions stand at the core of assessing decarbonization pathways and policies and must link to other sectors as well: Who bears the costs and who enjoys the benefits of the transitions?
