Maģistra darba “Rētorikas topoi Juvenāla satirās” mērķis ir noskaidrot rētorikas topoi izmantojuma nozīmi / pamatojumu Juvenāla tekstos. Pētījums vēltīts rētorikas topoi veidu analizēšanai atlasītajos teksta fragmentos no Juvenāla pirmās grāmatas piecām satirām. Darbā izvirzīta hipotēze, ka Juvenāls savu domu / uzskatu / pārliecības atklāsmei izmanto stabilus, antīkās rētorikas teorijā iztirzātus un aprobētus topoi. Infant vaccination using 2-dose priming at 3 and 5 mo of age with a booster at 11–12 mo of age was pioneered in Italy. The 3-5-11 schedule is now used in a growing number of European countries. Infanrix™ hexa (DTPa-HBV-IPV/Hib, GlaxoSmithKline Vaccines) was first licensed for use in 2000 and has been the only pediatric hexavalent vaccine available since 2005. In this paper we introduce a new method for Visual Saliency detection. The goal of our method is to emphasize regions that show rare visual aspects in comparison with those showing frequent ones. We propose a bottom up approach that performs a new technique based on low level image features (texture) analysis. More precisely, we use SIFT Density Maps (SDM), to study the distribution of keypoints into the image with different scales of observation, and its relationship with real fixation points. Maģistra darbā pētīti Latvijas helonīmi jeb purvu nosaukumi. Ievērojot toponīmiskās derivācijas principus, veikta helonīmu klasifikācija, analizēti pirmatnīgie helonīmi, atvasinātie helonīmi, salikteņi, kā arī vārdkopas. Veikta raksturīgāko vārddarināšanas iezīmju kartēšana, atspoguļojot to izplatību Latvijā. Atsevišķa nodaļa maģistra darbā veltīta helonīmu darināšanā izmantoto semantisko paņēmienu – onimizācijas un transtoponimizācijas – analīzei, aplūkota arī purvu nosaukumu saistība ar citām toponīmu grupām. Pirmatnīgie un atvasinātie helonīmi, kā arī salikteņi raksturoti pēc to izcelsmes un semantikas. Pētījuma pamatā ir LĢIA Vietvārdu datubāzē pieejamie helonīmi.

The latest trend in surgery is to look for minimally invasive procedures, with fewer complications and a shorter recovery time. This study aims to compare the minimally- invasive envelope flap, with smaller incision and fewer dissection and the conventional envelope flap, with a 20mm incision, on impacted mandibular third molar surgery, focusing on the hypothesis that there were no differences in postoperative outcomes. Siirtymä moderniin maatalouteen on muiden maankäytön muutosten ohella vähentänyt näitä biologisesti, kulttuurisesti ja sosiaalisesti arvokkaita elinympäristöjä murto-osaan entisestä. Perinnebiotoopeille tyypillinen avoimuus, vähäravinteisuus ja säännölliset häiriöt tekevät niistä biologisesti monimuotoisia elinympäristöjä. Huumori on hyvin yleisesti käytetty tehokeino niin arkisessa kielenkäytössä kuin populaarikulttuurissa ja kirjallisuudessakin. Yhtenä huumorin lajina voidaan pitää erilaisia sanaleikkejä, joissa leikitellään kielen monitulkintaisuudella. Sanaleikeissä on usein kaksi, tai jopa useampi, merkityksen taso, joiden yhtäaikainen ymmärtäminen johtaa sanaleikin tajuamiseen. Tom Stoppardin vuoden 1966 näytelmä Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead on tunnettu absurdi komedia, jossa esiintyy reilusti sanaleikkejä, joten se soveltuu erityisen hyvin juuri tämänkaltaisen huumorin tarkasteluun.
