AbstractThe classical TODIM considers the crisp numbers to handle the information. However, in a real-world applicative context, this information is bounded by noise and vagueness and hence uncertain. There are wide range of works in the literature which utilizes fuzzy sets to handle the uncertainty in the various dimensions. However, there is a constraint of hesitancy in such decision-making problems due to the involvement of various decision-makers. This essay is a narration about my attempt to follow a small part of Emil and Dana Zátopek’s journey in the Finland of the 1980s. The essay also documents my visit to Mrs. Dana Zátopková in February 2012. When travelling in the history, I meet the Professor of Sports Science Vojmír Srdečný who is also a Sachsenhausen survivor, like many other academic people of his generation. I look for the Zátopeks in the Finnish National Archive in Helsinki by going through the calendars and notebooks of Minister Johannes Virolainen. Pulsed flow-through cultivation of Margaritifera margaritifera : effects of water source and food quantity on the survival and growth of juveniles

AbstractConservation of the endangered freshwater pearl mussel (FPM) includes artificially rearing juveniles, but the pulsed flow-through (PFT) method, enabling the continuous renewal of water and food in culture containers, has not been applied to FPM. This study tested the PFT method in culture of FPM juveniles, and the effect of water source (tap vs well water) and food concentration (mixture of commercial phytoplankton products) on the survival and growth of juveniles. Beaker-specific survival rates varied from 0 to 100% (mean: 34%) and from 0 to 58% (mean: 16%) in the 1st (2-week) and 2nd (10-week) experiment, respectively.
