No studies to date have tested the relevance of using salt or spices to increase children's vegetable acceptance. Our objective was to compare the effect of repeated exposure (RE) and of flavor-flavor learning (FFL) on toddlers' acceptance of a nonfamiliar vegetable. Study protocol for a multi-component kindergarten-based intervention to promote healthy diets in toddlers: a cluster randomized trial

Background: There is concern about the lack of diversity in children’s diets, particularly low intakes of fruit and vegetables and high intakes of unhealthy processed food. This may be a factor in the rising prevalence of obesity. A reason for the lack of diversity in children’s diets may be food neophobia. This study aimed to promote a healthy and varied diet among toddlers in kindergarten. The primary objectives were to reduce food neophobia in toddlers, and promote healthy feeding practices among kindergarten staff and parents. Background: The 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) has demonstrated effectiveness against pneumococcal illnesses when administered as 3 infant doses plus a toddler dose (3+1 schedule) or as an abbreviated schedule of 2 infant doses plus a toddler dose (2+1 schedule). The 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) is approved and World Health Organization-prequalified for administration in a 2+1 schedule when used as part of routine immunization programs. Vegetable intake is generally low among children, who appear to be especially fussy during the pre-school years. Repeated exposure is known to enhance intake of a novel vegetable in early life but individual differences in response to familiarisation have emerged from recent studies. Word Processing in Scene Context : An Event-Related Potential Study in Young Children

Semantic priming has been demonstrated in object or word contexts in toddlers. However, less is known about semantic priming in scene context. In this study, 24-month-olds with high and low vocabulary skills were presented with visual scenes (e.g., kitchen) followed by semantically consistent (e.g., spoon) or inconsistent (e.g., bed) spoken words. Inconsistent scene-word pairs evoked a larger N400 component over the frontal areas. Low-producers presented a larger N400 over the right while high-producers over the left frontal areas. A case report on dental management of a toddler with Pachygyria

Children with special health care needs receive less oral care than the normal population, inspite of the high level of dental diseases among them. They are at an increased risk for oral diseases throughout their lifetime. This paper reports a case of a toddler with congenital unusual thick convolutions of the cortex resulting in a condition called pachygyria. Intra oral examination showed multiple abscesses with poor oral hygiene. As the patient was lacking cooperative ability, treatment of full mouth rehabilitation as needed.
