Acoustic Features of Voice in Patients with Snoring
2011
Objective: Determine whether the acoustic characteristics of snoring sounds differed between 30 simple male adult snorers (group A) and 30 healthy adult male subject (group B) by using a multidimensional voice program (MDVP), which is a commonly used computer program that analyzes various aspects of voice.Method: Group A patients presented a Friedman tongue position grade I, tonsil size 2 to 3, a body mass index of 15. Phonetically balanced sentences and sustained vowels a, e, and i were digitally recorded with the MDVP; evaluation of voice handicap index (VHI) was done too. Results: Compared with control group, in group A: the acoustic parameters presented a statistically significantly high…
Molecular anatomy of the neuro-immune connection.
1991
Light microscopic immunohistochemistry was employed to elucidate and compare the presence, distribution, and coexistence of various peptides, neuroendocrine markers and enzymes of the catecholamine pathway in nerves supplying lymphoid tissues in a variety of mammalian species. All lymphoid organs and tissues receive innervation by fibers containing dopamine-beta-hydroxylase and/or tyrosine hydroxylase, neural markers like protein gene product 9.5, synaptophysin and neurofilament and a varied spectrum of peptides. The prominent peptides were tachykinins (substance P, neurokinin A), calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), neuropeptide Y (NPY), and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide/peptide his…
S2k guidelines for the treatment of psoriasis in children and adolescents - Short version part 2.
2019
The present guidelines are aimed at residents and board-certified physicians in the fields of dermatology, pediatrics, pediatric dermatology and pediatric rheumatology as well as policymakers and insurance funds. They were developed by dermatologists and pediatric dermatologists in collaboration with pediatric rheumatologists using a formal consensus process (S2k). The guidelines highlight topics such as disease severity, quality of life, treatment goals as well as problems associated with off-label drug therapy in children. Trigger factors and diagnostic aspects are discussed. The primary focus is on the various topical, systemic and UV-based treatment options available and includes recomm…
Tonsillectomy in IgA Nephropathy - Clinical Case
2021
Abstract This article presents the clinical case of IgA nephropathy of a patient hospitalized in order to investigate a nephritic syndrome, apparently with acute onset, discovered in the following circumstances: recurrent macroscopic hematuria, decreased urinary volume, the first episode occurring about a month ago in the context of an acute infection of upper airways, remitted under antibiotic therapy, with reappearance every 2 weeks, also accompanied by odynophagia and decreased urinary volume.
Die Tonsillotomie mit der bipolaren Koagulationsschere
2008
BACKGROUND: Nowadays, tonsillotomy is an accepted operating procedure for the diagnosis of tonsillar hyperplasia in small children. Up to now many different techniques such as laser, radiofrequency, coblation or micro-debrider have been used. In this study, for the first time bipolar coagulation scissors were utilized. METHODS: Up to December 2006, a total of 91 children with benign tonsillar hyperplasia were tonsillotomized by bipolar coagulation scissors. Of these 91 children, 38 (average age 74 months) were recruited for this study. Pre-operative and post-operative complaints were documented and the success of the operation was evaluated by the parents. RESULTS: In more than 90 % of the …
Bērnu aprūpe pēc tonsilektomijas stacionārā
2016
Tonsillolith : a report of three clinical cases
2007
Tonsillolith is a rare dystrophic calcification as a result of chronic inflammation of the tonsils. Three asymptomatic cases of tonsillolith are reported, incidentally discovered through panoramic radiographs, which showed different sizes of radiopaque images, varying from 2 to 5mm; cases I and III images did not overlap the mandible ramus, which led to a probable diagnosis of soft tissue calcification. Case II had radiopaque unilateral images, with osseous tissue density, overlapping the mandibular ramus, leading to a benign intra-osseous lesion, which was considered as differential diagnosis. No symptoms were reported in any case. Only case I had clinical characteristics, showing highly c…
