An exploration of the influence of professional relationships on the career pathways of physical education teacher educators

This paper focuses on the professional journeys of 14 mid- and late-career teacher educators in seven countries in the subject area of physical education. Data was gathered through two rounds of semi-structured interviews and revealed a strong emphasis on the professional relationships impacting upon participants’ entry to and development within the profession. Career interest development, career choice and career performance were all affected by the people with whom participants formed relationships throughout their careers. The findings are discussed with reference to the role of teacher educators in selecting, encouraging and supporting their teacher education colleagues.

Inter-generational learning of teachers: what and how do teachers learn from older and younger colleagues?

Abstract: This paper examines how and what teachers learn from their older and younger colleagues. Data were gathered from interviews and written reports from 27 Belgian and Finnish teachers. Thematic qualitative analysis was used. The results revealed differences in what teachers learn from older and younger colleagues. Teachers reported learning innovative teaching methods and ICT skills from younger colleagues, whereas practical information, classroom management skills, self-regulation and community building were learned mainly from older colleagues. Il saggio ricostruisce le vicende della famiglia Torongi di Maiorca, che all’inizio del ‘500 si trasferì in Sicilia in fuga dal luogo di origine, dove a motivo dell’ascendenza giudeo-conversa era perseguitata dal locale tribunale inquisitoriale. A Palermo i Torongi si integrarono pienamente nel contesto politico, sociale ed economico locale, anche grazie alle relazioni parentali e clientelari strette con esponenti chiave dell’Ordine di Malta in Sicilia. Structural assessment of a whole toroidal sector of the HELIAS 5-B breeding blanket

Abstract The European roadmap for the realization of fusion energy considers the stellarator line as a possible long-term alternative to a tokamak DEMO. In this context, from the plasma physics standpoint, the most promising option is a five-field period power plant called HELIcal-axis Advanced Stellarator (HELIAS) 5-B. In order to allow the electricity production, the HELIAS 5-B reactor must be endowed with a breeding blanket (BB). Hence, in this paper, the advancements in the HELIAS 5-B BB design are reported.
