Thermal and thermo-oxidative stability and kinetics of decomposition of PHBV/sisal composites

The decomposition behaviours of composites made of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) and sisal were assessed in terms of thermal stability and decomposition kinetics, under inert and oxidative conditions, by means of multi-rate linear non-isothermal thermogravimetric experiments. A statistical design of experiments was applied to study the influence of the addition of sisal (0-10-20-30%wt), the presence coupling agent (Yes/No) and the applied conditions of work (inert or oxidative). Synthesis, antiproliferative activity, and in silico insights of new 3-benzoylamino-benzo[ b ]thiophene derivatives

A new series of 3-benzoylamino-5-imidazol-5-yl-benzo[b]thiophenes and the parent amino derivatives were synthesized and screened as antitumor agents. All tested compounds showed concentration-dependent antiproliferative activity profile against HeLa cell line, exhibiting GI50 values in the low micromolar range. The most active compounds were tested in cell cycle perturbation experiments. A rapid accumulation of cells in the G2/M phase, with a concomitant reduction of cells in both the S and G0/G1 phases, was observed, suggesting that cell exposure to selected derivatives produces mitotic failure. Considering that it is difficult, if not impossible, for an analysis of Chopin?s music to unmask some aspects of his private life (such as an alleged sexual and affective attraction for individuals of his own sex), we can however argue that, throughout the 19th century, a connection was established between his work and a ?feminine universe.? That connection might have had implications in the way in which the feminized image of its author was constructed. The analysis of certain aesthetic and stylistic traits of Chopin?s music can help understand the causes of that perception.

Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, millaisia käsitysten muutoksia yliopisto-opiskelijat kuvaavat tapahtuneen opintojensa aikana. Tutkimuksissa on tähän asti tarkasteltu yliopisto-opiskelijoiden käsitysten muutosta ulkopuolisen tutkijan arvioimana kohdistuen tiettyyn, etukäteen valittuun aiheeseen. Tässä tutkimuksessa yliopisto-opiskelijat kuvailivat käsitystensä muutosta vapaasti ilman tarkasti rajattua aihetta ja perustuen heidän omaan itsearviointiinsa. Tutkimuksen kohdejoukkona oli Jyväskylän yliopiston ensimmäisen, kolmannen ja viidennen vuoden opiskelijat vuosina 2013 ja 2015. Tupakka on kautta historiansa herättänyt voimakkaita tunteita. Tupakoinnin merkitykset ovat vaihdelleet pyhästä jumalten lahjasta äärimmäiseen paheksuntaan – jopa kuolemantuomioon. Viimeisen viidenkymmenen vuoden aikana tupakka on alkanut kohdata paheksuntaa kiihtyvällä tahdilla; tupakointiin liittyvät asenteet ja normit ovat alati tiukentuneet. Pyrin tutkielmassani selvittämään kyseisen suuntauksen syitä: tutkimuksen tehtävänä on muodostaa kuva vallalla olevasta tupakkadiskurssista ja sen perusteista erittelemällä tupakkatuotteiden varoitustekstejä diskurssianalyysin avulla.
