The aim of this paper is to analyse how physicians use eponyms for naming the evolution of a scientific discovery in order to describe the different features of eponyms. In the first section a brief classification of medical eponym is given, attention is then turned to the main positive and negative aspects of these honorific names in the language of Medicine in a diachronic perspective with linguistic and ethical considerations.

A metà strada fra gli studi traduttologici e quelli lessicologici la tesi presenta un forte carattere interdisciplinare, che copre la traduttologia, la linguistica,la lessicologia, la sociologia, l'antropologia e la letteratura comparata, ed è tesa a mettere in luce gli aspetti metariflessivi nell'analisi dei metadiscorsi sul tradurre. Il lessico critico multilingue, che forma la parte centrale del lavoro, si articola in otto entrate terminologiche in cui i concetti presi in esame vengono analizzati a livello sincronico, diacronico, interlinguistico e interculturale.

Epistemic uses of the pretérito pluscuamperfecto in La Paz Spanish

This paper explores epistemic-evidential uses of the pluperfect, i.e. pretérito pluscuamperfecto, in La Paz Spanish. The pretérito pluscuamperfecto displays functions of a reported evidential form, conforming to results from previous studies on Argentinian Spanish (Bermúdez 2008; Speranza 2014) and, furthermore, is used according to a previously unnoticed inferential evidential function. Using theoretical frameworks from Kockelman (1957) and Bergqvist (2018), this paper describes the configuration of participant roles and event types implied in the different evidential functions of the pretérito pluscuamperfecto.

La proposta presenta aspetti della comunicazione interculturale che dovrebbero essere presi in considerazione nell'ambito dei corsi di formazione dei mediatori linguistici nonchè dell'interpretariato presso i servizi pubblici. Il contributo si sofferma in particolare sui modelli di comunicazione interculturale tradizionali e introduce il modello di Richard Lewis attualmente poco considerato nell'ambito in questione.

Grazia Deledda's literary work has been introduced by the early 20th century Chinese translators mostly through indirect translations. Such process compromised sometimes the integrity of the original linguistic choices, but the selection of contributions from the Chinese periodical press included in this study shows a genuine enthusiasm toward her narrative style and the life of Deledda's Sardinian characters, portrayed as symbolic representation of the universal human psychology.
